It's 10pm where I am now.
I'm reasonably new to this town - it's a small, quiet touristy area.
Every week or two, fireworks go off... understandable over Halloween Xmas and NYE and NY, etc However this has happened since early august (no less often than every fortnight) and has been a nightmare to be frank.
Made worse by the fact that I'm pretty sure it's the tourists in local holiday accomodation, so it's not like I can really speak to them about it.

I have a dog. He's terrified of fireworks. He will try to escape the house, so as such we (on special occasions when we expect it) keep him in one of the bedrooms, normally ours, with all windows shut (he will try to jump out) and the door locked. He remains pretty calm, but hides under the bed. The other thing we do (if we aren't able to stay in the bedroom with him or have to nip out) is place him in the shower with his toys, bed and food. It's not ideal but he remains calm and doesn't escape so that's a plus.
In mid October an unexpected firework from the beach (across the street) meant that the dog tried to jump out of the window, damaging the fly screens and narrowly avoiding injury as Dh was able to grab him in the nick of time.

Back at the start of December at about 4pm (not the usual time for fireworks I'm sure most can agree) fireworks started going. It was completely unexpected.
Dog jumped from the verandah and thankfully unscathed (the vet was surprised)
So I'm understandably really worried and it's causing me to become quite anxious.

Aibu to find this really irritating? There isn't much I can do especially if it's not continuous and very late at night but honestly it's making me a bit miserable Sad think I just want to rant

YANBU for finding it irritating. Unfortunately the law says fireworks cannot be let off "between the hours of 11pm-7am (apart from Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight. New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am."

Still nippy though, not common, and I'm sure you wouldn't have moved to where you are if you had known.

I'm not in the UK (thought the time would be obvious Grin )
Here 9pm is the cut off, but unless it's continuous they won't do anything (I've tried) so if you have 5 minutes of fireworks you're out of luck. Nobody is going to let them off all night as such nothing can be done. I have tried complaining to the regions council to no avail. It's only a police matter if there's damage or abuse of some kind. They don't intervene for noise complaints.
