37 weeks pregnant and dh panicking about flu

Just that really. He works in a shop so deals with the general public on a daily basis. Maybe he's a prepper but he's coming up with a plan to stay elsewhere if he starts feeling poorly.

He doesn't want to pass it to me, future newborn or 12 month old ds.

His worry is unrealistic, right? He seems to think that the south is being hit badly and we're in a high risk area i think he reads too many tabloids

Have you not had your flu jab?

Has he not had one? Given his job with public and his paranoia?

Lj8893 · 11/01/2018 22:05

I'm assuming you have had your flu jab? A little late now but it's worth your dp paying to have the flu jab in future, it's not very expensive at all!

dementedpixie · 11/01/2018 22:05

Has he had the jab? Have you?

AvoidingDM · 11/01/2018 22:07

If you've not had yours I'd phone your MW or GP in the morning and arrange to get it.

bobstersmum · 11/01/2018 22:08

I have had two January babies and my dh also works directly with the public so it was a real fear of mine too. If you've had your flu jab which in sure you have as it's recommended for pregnant women, it's unlikely you'll catch it and the baby should get some immunity through you as well and more so if you are going to breastfeed.

Prusik · 11/01/2018 22:09

I've had my flu jab. DH was planning on getting one but circumstances have meant he has hardly had chance to think about it. I'll get nagging Grin

I'm not feeling overly worried but he thinks I'm crazy to dismiss his concerns

Send him to your local Tesco/Sainsbury's/etc pharmacy to get the jab.

OP, I'm 24 weeks pregnant, had my flu jab and have spent the last two and a half weeks fighting off the flu. It's completely floored me and I've never been this ill BUT I went to the doctor and they were unbothered. He said the baby is very well protected, even if Mum feels horrendous. Appreciate it might not be a joyous way to give birth but baby, if that is your husband's concern, will be fine.

Crunchymum DD and I got the flu jab at work, DH and DS didn't. DD went down with flu first followed by DH and DS then me. It's been an awful few weeks. Apparently the vaccine isn't very effective
