Taking items from a airport lounge

A friend was caught by an airline lounge attendant putting a couple of cans of soft drink into their bag. Apparently, they said

“I ain't seen nothing man but have a good flight”

IN their defense (a) it was only 2 cans (b) it wasn’t booze (not even the cheap stuff) (c) they felt suitably chastised (d) the airline has limited stock on board

Should they have felt bad or was that okay? Will show them this thread later...

Is this the same for 1st class lounges at train stations? Only I always fill up with stuff! It's all added into the price of your ticket, never occurred to be it was CF territory!

Bluntness100 · 11/01/2018 12:22

They're run by the airport and anyone can use them and they cost about £20

This isn't correct for airline lounges. For airline lounges you cannot pay to enter. You either need to be flying first or business with that airline, or be at a membership level that gains you entry on their frequent flyer club. You're referring to airport lounges which is something different.

If it's the same airline, surely it doesn't make a difference?
You'd get in on the plane anyway?

I'd take a drink or maybe an apple for ds but loading your bag is a bit cheeky

Meh, fair enough. Taking a couple of drinks - I see everybody do it! two cans he wouldve had anyway isnt bloody stealing. I’ve taken stuff from an all inc breakfast to eat on the run if we’ve got an early flight

The rare occasions I have been lucky enough to use an airport lounge I will take a bottle of water and maybe a little packet of biscuits in case am delayed the other end waiting for luggage or whatever. I have seen business people filling their bags with fruit, cans, etc.

Eurostar lounge was the best with a guy filling his bag from the drum of chocolates in Brussels. Commented would take care of presents for the office when he went in the next day.

Well the thread title says airport lounge and the OP says airline lounge so who knows which it is?

metacrisis · 11/01/2018 12:28

Oh who could possibly give a fuck about 2 cans of coke?

Taking items from an airport lounge for later consumption is unnacceptable. People that do these things are the same people that go thru life taking advantage of every opportunity in disregard of others. Regardless if the lounge restocks Food and Beverage, it cost greatly to maintain the operation. At the end, the admission prices will increase to compensate for the loss.
