For me to not trim the stem on my moon cup?

Never used one before, thought I'd give it a dry run (so to speak) to get the hang of it a bit before period actually starts...

I can feel the stem but it's not painful, I think I would get used to the sensation of it being there. I find it difficult to take out even with the stem intact, I don't know how I'd do it without?? I don't like the thought of squatting down in a public toilet.... but will leaving it make the cup dislodge and more prone to leaking?

Does anyone know if there's a reason, other than for comfort, that the stem mustn't extend out of the vagina??

You do know you can't flush tampons op...?

Yes... why do you ask Excited101?

You shouldn't flush wipes either! Even if they say they are flushable so, please don't flush them (this is aimed generally, not at anyone in particular).

Solo the ones I'm thinking of are basically like wet tissues! Do they just take a bit longer to break down than ordinary toilet paper? I've never flushed them myself as have never been anywhere near a toilet when using them, but good to know for future.

In that case, I guess just stick to toilet paper and water when out and about, if you want to feel 'cleaner'!

I'm not bothered, I'll probably just empty, reinsert and deal with it properly at home...

Ewww don't use any kind of wipe on any kind of menstrual cup. You'd be putting all sorts of unnecessary chemicals inside your very delicate bits!

TBH it doesn't need any rinsing or wiping - just empty and reinsert. If I was in a loo with a basin, I rinsed the cup, but no big deal if I couldn't. Chances are that you'd usually be changing it at home, anyway, where you have access to nice clean private basins.

NeverUse haha obviously not those sort of wipes! I was talking about 'flushable' water wipes, the wipes are made of chemical free wood pulp and just moistened with water.

I'm planning to just empty and reinsert, myself! This was just a suggestion for menstral cup clean freaks. I prefer to keep things as simple as possible!

Phew!Grin

If you want to rinse and there's no basin, take a little bottle of water with you into the cubicle.

I don't know about those wipes Elephant but, I'm guessing they are quite thick and could clog up the pipework/drains etc so, I'm against flushing them, though in a public toilet, they could be put into a Sani bin Even Kleenex type tissues shouldn't be flushed.

Elephant17 · 12/01/2018 16:26

I hear what you're saying Solo.

Then again, some of those luxury toilet papers feel about 3 times thicker than a Kleenex! I've never understood those toilet papers.

Yes, I know! I don't know how it flushes!
