5yo Eating baby food

OK, not that dramatic but it means you opened the thread.

Even as a baby DD didn't have actual baby food.

But I do still by the pouches that are just fruit, find them great to keep in the car as a quick snack. Don't worry she still has 5 fresh fruit/veg a day.

Is it weird though?

I mix them with Martini. The sparkling, ready to drink one. Delish!

MrsPatrickDempsey · 10/01/2018 14:54

They have quite a high sugar content

maddnessintheroost · 10/01/2018 14:56

My DH hates them but ive got a couple for emergencies now hes 18 months and eating the same as us. Good to have in the car

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/01/2018 14:58

Lots of things have a high sugar content, nothing wrong with eating/drinking them in moderation.

glueandstick · 10/01/2018 14:58

They have a high sugar content because they are fruit.....

I remember a neighbour being shocked at ‘the sugar content’ of an Ella’s kitchen fruit pouch and then declaring she would only purée fruit herself and add a little sugar.... 🙄

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/01/2018 14:59

That's quite an age gap relationship there maddnessGrin

we buy these ones for DC aged 5 packed lunches....they are great for dairy free kids who cant eat a frubie yoghurt but want something like their friends....same difference if you ask me :)

thethoughtfox · 10/01/2018 15:02

Mine used to eat them frozen. Now we have the kids Innocent Smoothies frozen instead.

MrsSylviaTietjens · 10/01/2018 15:03

My 5yo dc still loves those fruit pouches. They’re brilliant to have in your bag as emergency snacks too.

GoldilocksAndTheThreePears · 10/01/2018 15:04

When I lived in France there were tons of fruit puree pots, same as yoghurt in packs of 4 to snap apart, marketed at same people as yoghurt. I loved it!

ForgivenessIsDivine · 10/01/2018 15:10

Sold here in France as a snack, not in the baby aisle, we all eat them in this house and my youngest child is 8. Completely normal. We also freeze them as slushies in the summer.

Evelynismyformerspyname · 10/01/2018 15:11

They're aimed at anyone in Germany- or rather you can pay 99 cents for a single one marketed for babies or 2€ for a box of 6 with just pictures of the fruit on marketed at no age group in particular. Loads of kids of all ages take them to school. My 6 year old goes to afternoon club but doesn't eat their lunches so often takes a normal apple plus a strawberry and banana pouch as well as a sandwich - actual bananas don't travel well in a school bag.

CheeseCrackersAndWine · 10/01/2018 15:15

I would like to recommended the Ella's Kitchen banana and coconut pouch for putting in your prosecco...

DGRossetti · 10/01/2018 15:21

One of the best things about having DS was I got to have rusks again Smile

KatherinaMinola · 10/01/2018 15:21

Of course it's not weird (though reading some of these responses some people obviously think it is). It's just pureed fruit, marketed at parents of babies - I still serve it up to my older DC with a tbsp of Greek yoghurt, as a slightly healthier alternative to sugared fruit yoghurts.

paxillin · 10/01/2018 15:29

My granddad eats them. He's 90 and strong as an ox.

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/01/2018 15:48

cbeesecrackers
Do they have bits in?
I love coconut yoghurt but I hate the texture of coconut.

Itsjustaphase84 · 10/01/2018 15:52

Not weird i do this too. My dc is 3. Handy when i have ran out of fruit and on the go. I used them on occasion on top of weetabix. Yum

Santasbigredbobblehat · 10/01/2018 15:53

My four year old will occasionally request an Ella’s Spag Bol in a pouch. 🤷🏾‍♂️

CheeseCrackersAndWine · 10/01/2018 16:07

IHaveBrilloHair Nope - no bits! A perfect smooth yummy puree :) Very coconutty. In a bright yellow sachet.

VileyRose · 10/01/2018 16:10

Mine does. She loves them!

HSMMaCM · 10/01/2018 16:33

My 18 year old likes the strawberry ones. Now I'm wondering if she puts them in alcohol......

Noodledoodledoo · 10/01/2018 17:34

I still use them for my eldest who is 3.5 after swimming - she hated them as a baby except when she had a throat infection once! Great for a quick snack on the go.
