Dp is a student so he is exempt. but he works part time as well. also gets student grant thingy (dependants grant for me, sound so bloody patronising!)

I get nuffin, except cb and ctc which I am expected to pay £731 a year out of for council tax, being a sahm with 2 children under 5???

bloody cheek of it!

£731? That is peanuts, we have to pay £1350 per year for a small 2-bed semi housing association house, and I am a sahm too. Dh works, for a not very good wage and we get nothing.

Furrymummy · 25/04/2007 20:24

If you are a sahm aren't you entitled to income support? If so you should get your council tax paid.

MrsApron · 25/04/2007 20:26

2050 here for an average 3 bed detached,

Dabbles · 25/04/2007 20:27

the £731 is my share, dp share has been taken off!

When DH and I lived first lived together he was a student (we had no children at the time). I paid 75% council tax (single person rebate or something) just had to provide proof that he was studying fulltime. This was a good few years ago now, so things may have changed. HTH

Sorry - x-posts

I get ct benefit at 33p at week I think!

I have had major problems with my hb/ctb recently, went to the "customer service centre" to ask very nicely if they could explain the problem to me, which the woman did once, I said I'm sorry I still don't understand/ to which she fixed me with a stare, openly yawned and said "WHAT exactly don't you understand" in the manner of talking to a 6yo.

I love being on benefits it's just such fun

Dabbles · 25/04/2007 20:41

I was a SAHM for two years and got rent and Ctax rebate and was on income support and got child tax credits.....think you need to check out you're getting all your entitled to love....speak to Citizens advice....

compo · 25/04/2007 20:44

it must depend on what your other half earns though surely?

Daisybump · 25/04/2007 20:45

sorry...should have added I was a single parent at the time...

ScoobyDooooo · 25/04/2007 20:46

But you can't claim benefits like income support because her dh works parttime so this is an income if they live together. You can however claim council tax/housing benefit if you are on a low income so you may want to look in to this, simply fill in a form from your local council & see what they say. HTH

twobabies · 25/04/2007 20:47

If you live with someone married or not who earns money they will take that into account when working out you weekly income, along with CTC and CB if your over your excess they won't give you nothing. I think to get Income Support you have to have literally nothing coming into the home besides CTC and CB ie nobody working at all.
