To ask if you have a matress topper?

I have a new (ish) matress. Paid a lot of money for it but a year later and I think it is the most uncomfortable thing going! I can’t afford to get a new matress so was wondering if matress toppers actually work- are they worth the money? And can anyone recommend a good one?

Hi OP
I bought a 2" 'Snug' Mattress Topper from Amazon recently for same reasons, very painful nights on mattress that was too hard.
It's like sleeping on a cloud now, lovely and soft.
It grips the mattress so doesn't slide about.

Here's the link

I bought a 2 or 3 inch thick one for DS1's bed. I bought a cheap coiled sprung mattress when he went into a single after his cot bed, as I thought it would end up stained. Turns out that it never got stained, but as he grew, I wanted a more comfortable mattress for him. Which is why I bought the topper from Amazon. It is amazing, it makes a huge difference. It also makes his bed warmer. I needed to buy extra deep fitted sheets to accommodate the depth of the topper too.

Hi OP
We don't sleep in the same bed; he does admit that my bed is much comfy when he comes round and has a nap :)
Good idea to put a mattress topper on your half of the bed 👍🏼

I have the teddy bear one from dunelm and it’s lovely.

inmyheadimthequeen · 09/01/2018 22:19

I have one from soak & sleep, it was quite expensive but is really comfy. Normal fitted sheets fit over it but it's possible to buy 'extra deep' fitted sheets if your mattress is deep - the topper itself adds 5 -10 cm extra depth. I don't have an electric blanket so can't help with that bit, sorry.

Love mine, much more comfy. It's a 3 inch duck down, got it off groupon wasn't expensive.

Wool one from Devon Duvets. Sold by John Lewis and Amazon.

I bought an Eve topper last summer to help with hip pain from a too-firm bed. I read lots and lots of reviews and spent £175 on it as the reviews were all very, very good.

It's brilliant and our bed feels amazing. Best £175 I ever spent.

(btw, it's cheaper to buy Eve products on Wayfair than on the Eve site)

I loved our first one but when we got a bigger bed the replacement toppers been a nightmare sliding over the sides n down the bed. I also found way more painful when I was pregnant. We just got an even bigger bed and currently using the kingsize mattress on it... with topper and I'm finding it far more comfier now it's on slats than a divan. However it still slips around n is a nightmare.

Felixandtheflippers · 12/01/2018 16:54

I used to have one but it made night sweats worse . We were roasting hot but very comfy! Anyone have any recommendations for a cool topper?

Ekphrasis · 12/01/2018 17:46

Latex ones can be cooler than memory foam.

WatchoutDSisdriving · 13/03/2018 20:43

I know this is a couple of months old but how are you getting on OP?

We have an 18month old mattress that cost £1k but we both find recently that we're getting aches and we slept better when away in a hotel. There is no way I am replacing the mattress yet but wondered about a topper. The mattress we have has a 'pillow top' soft bit but I guess the topper goes on top of that again?

Are you still finding it is really good? Which one do you have?

Anyone got an Eve mattress topper? Thanks

Sarahh2014 · 13/03/2018 20:48

Yes i have an expensive mattress that ordered online and when it came it was too hard .Ordered a feather mattress topper and my bed was so much better

WatchoutDSisdriving · 14/03/2018 09:54

Thanks Sarah2014

Anyone tried an eve mattress topper? Or have any other recommendations?
