To think Tesco are trying it on?!

Just sorting my weekly shop - I usually get the same things every week, more or less (no adventurous eaters here!) but Tesco is suddenly out of stock of every type of banana apart from their organic versions.

This has happened to me before; my regular, cheaper item will be "no longer available" or out of stock for a good few weeks before it suddenly appears on their site again, essentially forcing me to buy a more expensive product.

AIBU to think this isn't a coincidence or accident? Have you noticed this at all?

Ocado has been exactly the same since Christmas, loads of usual stuff out of stock. My assumption was that it was a stock / supplier issue, basically that there was so much sold over Christmas that it will take a while for supply chains to normalise again.

I think statistically consumers spent more on an online shop than in store?

Has anyone else also noticed that prices flew up at Christmas and aren’t coming down again? My feeling was that they were up by a good 5-10% in Waitrose and Ocado.

This happens to me with Tesco all the time! It’s frustrating.

Last week no whole cucumbers, had to buy two half’s, no peppers and no single bannanas, just multipacks. My usual apples out of stock too and no chicken breasts. Same delivery slot every week so it’s not a stock timing thing.

My son has allergies and a lot of his diet specific products go out of stock for a few weeks and then return with a price hike of 20-30p more expensive than they used to be.

I get this all the time with Tesco as well. I've noticed recently a lot of their own brand items will suddenly show as unavailable, especially value ones . Sometimes if I shop early and go on later in the week they reappear.
