Went to a wedding fair today with DP, was shocked by the obscene prices that venues and additional extras were charging for the privilege of giving everyone a big party at our expense.
Aibu to just book a lovely intimate registry office wedding for 10 of our nearest and dearest at Chelsea Registry Office and then have a lovely dinner afterwards at a nearby restaurant , booking everyone into a hotel close by for the night?
Will have my 2 DS with me (2.3 and 7 weeks currently!).

Sorry to hear about your mum- it is a hard time. Flowers
Don't see why you can't ask for JL vouchers- although I think it is good to specify - "to put towards X"
About flowers- have you thought about asking a local florist to do a silk bouquet? You can then discuss it, and be sure you are happy with it. The best of the bouquet makers at the florist got married the week before me- so they suggested she did me a silk one - which I still have 30+ years later...

Probably less than that even , I read that the average wedding in Britain costs £27000!

That's more than my first house!

That is an obscene amount of money to blow on one day imo.

@Daisymay2 I really love fresh flowers so will probably go with a bunch on the day delivered to our hotel!
I’m pretty pleased because I have booked everything bar hair and make up , can’t wait for it actually.
