To think upper age limits on toys are unnecessary

Things like playmobil that my 10 year old son still enjoys at times but he pointed out he would play it next year! Mu 6 year old pointed out that he “shouldn’t” play with her kinetic sand with her as it was age 1.5 to 8 years! Obviously it’s a guide but it can make older kids think they ate being babyish if they with play toys not consoles!

I see your point however as someone who doesn't have children, I find toy shopping really hard. Especially in the under 3 range where you blink and miss what ages toys are aimed at. I tend to use it as a guide to see if it's going to interest them so find it helpful.

I agree with Fallofrain - it's a useful guide if you're not in touch with the children's toy scene, but need to buy a gift.

I remember for a while the Early Learning Centre used to put the minimum age range plus 100, e.g. Age 3 to 103, in order to show that there was never really an upper age limit for a toy.
