To be amused by my friends son's fb post regarding his father

So just logged on and my friends son who is a young teen has put a video on.. Well a link to his YouTube account. It was of his dad and step mum having a heated debate about the new driving test and sat nav regulations.. The video was facing away from everyone so it's just the voices and they wernt tagged or anything.

The teen has seen similar videos on YouTube with loads of hits or views, or whatever you call them. So he and his aunt.. Who is also a teen put it on for a laugh.
His dad has seen it and got a mega hump.. Even though as I say it doesn't state who it is or no faces in the video. And has demand for him to remove it. The teen hasn't as of yet as far as I know.

I was everso slightly amused by it as it's just general fun, that's kids.

If it was me on the receiving end I'd find it funny, as no proof who it is.. But don't get me wrong if I was in the film visible I'd go nuts.

I think it's pretty invasive really.

Not the actual video itself, but the feeling you can't discuss anything in private without it ending up on the internet, wouldn't sit right with me.

He's being disrespectful by not deleting it.

YourVagesty · 05/01/2018 17:07

I really hate this sort of thing. Horrible behaviour

RyanStartedTheFire · 05/01/2018 17:09

No, that would be horrible. So invasive, I would go nuts.

fastfrank · 05/01/2018 17:10

It's not respectful

Ihaterapmusic · 05/01/2018 17:10

That's a fair point :)
I didn't think of that being invasive as such as I suppose it didn't click that because there are no faces or names on it

GeekyBlinders · 05/01/2018 17:11

Just because it isn't tagged, doesn't mean it's anonymous. After all, YOU know who was speaking, don't you? It's an invasion of privacy and I'd be annoyed too.

Snowman41 · 05/01/2018 17:11

Its not fun. It's not just kids.

It's wrong. It's invading privacy. It's disrespectful.

Ihaterapmusic · 05/01/2018 17:11

But thinking of it you're right it is a bit disrespectful

Jesus what a nasty little git.

SilverySurfer · 05/01/2018 17:12

I don't see anything remotely funny about him doing that and agree it's invasive. If he did it to me I would be pissed off and there would be repercussions.

WorraLiberty · 05/01/2018 17:12

They normally drum it into them at school that this sort of thing is not OK.

And if this was another student/child, not removing it when asked would be seen as bullying behviour.

Jellycatspyjamas · 05/01/2018 17:12

I'd hate that, there's a reasonable expectation of privacy in my own home and I'd feel violated that someone recorded a private conversation and posted it publicly online. I'd also wonder what else might end up there.

Ihaterapmusic · 05/01/2018 17:13

Yes I do know who was speaking, not personally but know of him... But totally get your point. Hopefully he will remove it.
Guessing maybe he just saw other videos on YouTube similar and wanted to jump On the bandwagon?

Ihaterapmusic · 05/01/2018 17:15

Totally get your points regarding school and didn't think of that to be fair..
Im a bit of a joker and as much as I say I wouldn't mind if it was me.. Thinking of it, I prob would as like PP said who knows what else they could do?

I would be removing devices from a young teen with so little respect.

Oblomov18 · 05/01/2018 17:18

Total no no in my eyes. I would tell ds to remove it immediately.

PortiaCastis · 05/01/2018 17:19

He doesn't deserve access to youtube as he's a disrespectful little shit

Ihaterapmusic · 05/01/2018 17:20

It's not my DS. My DS isn't allowed any form of social media.

you won't be amused when you realised he's put up a clip of you in the bathroom with diarrhoea or something.

I agree that it's inappropriately invasive and just disrespectful.

I'd back your x up and ask him to take it down. I don't have a warm relationship with my x but if either of my kids did that I woldn't be pleased.

CarysMa · 05/01/2018 17:21

I apologise, I thought it was your own son. Brew

MadMags · 05/01/2018 17:22

Do you find it funny because it's your friend's ex and his new partner?

Because I can't for the life of me see how it's okay, or what's funny about secretly recording someone's conversation and posting it on the internet!

He'd be banned from all devices and all social media if it was my kid. Not for posting it, but for refusing to remove it.

Starlighter · 05/01/2018 17:25

How disrespectful!

I think I’d be confiscating that phone for a while...

How would he feel if his parents recorded him and put it up on Facebook?!

Spartaca · 05/01/2018 17:27

How is it at all amusing or 'just kids'?

Ihaterapmusic · 05/01/2018 17:28

No idea originally found it amusing in general as the debate was quite daft.
Not because it's her ex.. I had never met him as they split 12 yrs ago possibly more.

As I say thinking of it and get others perspectives on it. Maybe I was wrong. As wouldn't think that even though there's no faces or anything, you still wouldn't know what else the child could do.

OP posts:
grannytomine · 05/01/2018 17:28

If he was mine I would be removing the device he used to record it and his computer. What else has he been recording. That is seriously creepy as well as disrespectful. Does he spy on anyone else?
