AIBU to confront my host dad about late payment in front of his new gf?

Hi everyone,

I'm an Au-Pair who lives with her host dad and his DS (the parents are divorced). My payday is usually the 20th of every month. As I left to go home for the holidays on the 20th of december, he forgot to pay me. I thought he'd pay me as soon as I come back (1st of January) but until now he didn't even bring it up. He has a new girlfriend who was there when I came home and also last night when I wanted to remind him of the money. I want to ask him tonight but AIBU to do it if his gf is there or would that make the Situation unnecessarily awkward? The problem is that he is rarely at home anyway and I prefer to solve this kind of problem in person. Thanks in advance for your help

Glad you got it sorted. I hope he doesn't 'forget' again.

If he’s paying you in cash, is there no tax/national insurance/pension being paid?

Look for a new job

He didn’t forget any more than you forgot you had no money...

@Hissy

It's declared pocket money and that's a common model for Au-Pairs. I have a special Au-Pair insurance and only stay for a year before going home. I'm here with an agency so don't worry, everything is fine and sorted.

Haha Hissy, NI isn't payable unless you earn £157+ pw, nor income tax unless you earn over £11500, pa. That would be some Aupair job Grin
