To not have answered the phone

I'm utterly exhausted at 7pm after looking after DD4, DD2 and DD friend (5) all day. I got them fed, bathed and put the younger one to bed before DH got home. He then got DD4 ready for bed and read her story while I mumsnetted relaxed for a bit before tidying up and making a start on our dinner.

MIL called at 6:45 and I let it ring out to answerphone before answering and chose not to as I'd literally just sat down. DH has just come down and asked why I didn't answer and had a go at me for not having spoken to PIL "all year" (remind me but it is still just the 3rd of January isn't it?). MIL used to have firm for calling every other night at bedtime until we just stopped answering and she finally got the message.

WIBU to not answer the phone?

No, not at all. I do the same all the time, and I adore my MIL, but sometimes you are that tired and drained that even talking on the phone is a big deal!

6.45 is a dumb time to call a young family (mind you every moment of the day is dumb in my opinion - TEXT ME!!!) Grin
