To ask about well-fitting bras...

I've noticed that my 36DD bras were a really bad fit. I discovered the Boob or Bust calculator, did all the measurements twice and it told me that I am a 34H.

I went to a local shop that stocks underwear such as Freya/Fantasie and I bought a Freya bra, size 36FF which seems to be a good enough fit - I am not well-versed enough to be able to tell if it's perfect. I tried on a 34H out of curiosity and the cups were most definitely way, waaaaaay too big, so obviously I did the measuring wrong.

Question - if I'm a 36FF in Freya, am I likely to be the same size in places like M&S, Matalan, George at Asda etc?

in a word, no - unfortunately all the brand's come up different. you may even find you're a different size in a different style of the same brand. always try on where you can. luckily the big bra shops on the internet, bravissimo and brastop etc are all really flexible about returns when things don't fit

Thanks :) I also wonder, if I measure at 37 inches under bust, should I go for 36 or 34? Considering that bras stretch with time?

Bratabase.com is really really helpful for working out how sizes work in different brands/styles. You can take the measurements from a well fitting bra and it will tell you the most similar bras available!

Also try joining a Facebook group like Clothes for Boobs, usually someone will be able to give you feedback about how certain makes/models fit.

There is a Facebook group and page called fairyboobmother, she will give you an online fitting from photos if you want to send them. She's also got a blog and it explains how to measure yourself and about " sister sizes" but honestly in some brands I'm a 28H, in some a 30GG and even sometimes in the same brand but different style I have to change size. Not every style suits every boob either, I find plunge suit me more than balcony for instance.

Also just to add if you are a 36FF the equivalent cup size in a 34 would be a 34G which explains why you found an H cup massive. Honestly look at the fairyboobmother blog where she explains sister sizes it makes it much easier to understand!

That 34H cup was so massive I could have easily fit both breasts in one cup! Hah. Thanks so much. I'm off to find fairyboobmother :)

I felt like I didn't wear the right size for most of my adult life, I just got told I was a size in somewhere like m&s and just assumed they were right but I know now from what I've read that it's not the case at all! Finally in the right size(s) at almost 40 Blush better late than never haha good luck @coffeemilknosugar
