To think these recipes should work? (Breadmaker)

I have a Panasonic bread maker and I'm trying out the recipes that came with it, but for the third time now the bread has collapsed in, sort of appears to have risen then sunk in. Why??
I followed the recipe exactly. Although I have to admit I didn't see anything about what temperature the water should be (used lukewarm and room temp second time , still same result) also not sure if butter should be melted first or just cut to cubes, again used both methods with the same sunken result.

It does taste great, but just such a shame about the look and clearly not supposed to happen.
Any mners here with breadmakers that have any advice please?

I have the same type of breadmaker. We found adjusting the level of water helps - I usually put in slightly more water than the recipe calls for and never have any issues with my bread. DH follows the recipe to the letter - and his bread comes out as you describe! Might be worth a try? Oh - we use the Allinsons green tub yeast too, and keep it in the fridge once it's been opened.

Hi - I might be able to help. I had this exact problem with my Panasonic breadmaker so phoned Panasonic for help. They said to try putting the water in first, then flour on top, then yeast in a little well in the flour (i.e. yeast is definitely separate from water). This worked for me! Good luck x

The OP has a machine with a yeast dispenser, I believe.

Poison Ah, that's a newer version then. Ignore me then!

I've had this a few times and new yeast did the trick. I didn't realise it should be kept in the fridge - therein could lie why it's happened a couple of times!
