(TMI alert re periods) To be quite worried about the forensic possibilities in my bathroom?

Rangelife · 01/01/2018 20:59

This has got me worried. I have endometriosis and extremely heavy periods. So much so that if I have a bath or shower or go to the loo when I am in it invariably ends up on the floor and tiles. The clots need bagging up. Obviously I always clean it up as best as I can.

Today I've had to have x2 baths due to flooding and getting out of the bath caused what looked like a murder scene.

AIBU to think if by random chance I died in my bathroom suddenly or went missing etc they might be suspicious when they find microscopic traces of my blood everywhere? I'm worried they might arrest DP or something.

Can they tell the difference between period blood and normal blood?

Honestly, the clots and sheer amount is staggering.

I'm sorry you are suffering like this. Has the GP offered any help with the level of blood loss?

I think they can tell it is menstrual blood.

Raver84 · 01/01/2018 21:01

I think you need to see your gp about this. And the chances of your husband being arrested I think are slim.

ScarlettDarling · 01/01/2018 21:03

Op, you'd best take care not to die suddenly or your dh will be in trouble Grin

Sounds awful though. Is there nothing they can do to help you with the huge amount of blood loss?

Monoblock67 · 01/01/2018 21:04

Menstrual blood isn’t the same as blood from your veins or anywhere else. It’s composed of endometrial tissue, blood, clots, cervical mucus, vaginal secretions, etc. It would show up differently under forensic testing. So I don’t think you’d need to worry!

hibbledibble · 01/01/2018 21:04

Yes, you should seek medical advice, as this is clearly bothering you.

I think how your bathroom would look forensically is the least of your worries!

NearlySchoolTimeAgain · 01/01/2018 21:05

I’ve warned my husband to remind potential forensic officers of my horrific periods too!

I imagine the splatter pattern would be different for someone murdered in a shower. But an after crime clean up?

museumum · 01/01/2018 21:07

It’s not the same. Doesn’t have the same red blood cells / haemoglobin I think. Or is it white cells? It doesn’t clot the same way. “Clots” in menstrual blood I think are actually tissue (womb lining) not clotting blood.

seastargirl · 01/01/2018 21:09

I suffered a placental abruption at home, losing a significant amount of blood a lot of which went on the carpet in the bedroom and soaked through to the floor boards leaving a large stained areas. I actually left a note under the new carpet as I knew we would be moving and thought if for any reason anything ever happened in that house then blood would be detected. Husband thinks I'm barmy, but I knew it would always bother me if I didn't did anything.

Sorry to hear you suffer this badly though, hope you manage to get it sorted somehow

Assburgers · 01/01/2018 21:12

You could always get a UV torch to see if there’s anywhere you’ve missed. My friend has one for detecting cat piss. Of course, if the police found it in your husband’s possession after your unexplained death he’d have questions to answer Grin

Rangelife · 01/01/2018 21:28

It really bothers me he could be put away for a crime he didn't commit! It has stained our mattress too! Glad to hear it's different!

Gynae have been pretty useless. I've had ablation and transemic acid but nothing worked. Suggested a full hysterectomy but I'm only 38. Endometriosis is a nightmare. It's stuck to my bladder and vowels too Sad

Rangelife · 01/01/2018 21:28

Bowels not vowels!!

I have thought about this too.

grumpysquash3 · 01/01/2018 21:36

It’s not the same.

No, but it has the same DNA in it, which is what the forensic team would be looking at, most likely.

(if it was a forensic situation, which it isn't)

ComtesseDeSpair · 01/01/2018 21:36

CSI and similar TV shows are largely dramatised to make a good storyline. In real life, evidence collection is far less straightforward, cases aren't solved by a lucky find of a droplet of blood hiding in a corner and everyone's houses are full of traces of blood and body fluids from all over the shop. It would be odder if they weren't!

Do go to the GP as soon as you can - I used to have similar periods and was prescribed mefanamic (sp?) acid which made a huge difference.

RidingWindhorses · 01/01/2018 21:38

You need a zip up waterproof mattress protector plus a terry mattress cover with waterproof panel underneath your base sheet.*

*fellow endo sufferer speaking from experience.

In my 20s I also had to use a child's bewetting mat in addition.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 01/01/2018 21:38

DS used to suffer badly with nosebleeds-buckets of blood and huge clots- had one in his bed once and I had to throw out pillow and some bedding.
I did think as I was shoving the blood stained items in the bin that it looked like I was clearing up after a grisly murder...
We will speak up in your DH defence if the worst happens....
also-think maybe you need another visit to GP in order as this can't be right

Rangelife · 01/01/2018 21:38

But it might be grumpy if I got murdered by a burglar or abducted or something.

So forensically there's a possibility it could be picked up? Shit.

fannyfelcher · 01/01/2018 21:43

Just leave a note in your bedside table saying that your medical history can explain the blood in the bathroom. Give your husband the same note. even a family member. It's hardly a genuine concern when you are actually bagging up your own blood clots Xmas Confused

Rangelife · 01/01/2018 21:43

I do need a mattress cover riding defo. DP and I did the deed one night when we were both half asleep and I didn't realise I had come on. Jesus. It was not pretty and my already stained mattress looked like somebody had been murdered on it.

I can handle the pain etc. but the bleeding is ridiculous.

grumpysquash3 · 01/01/2018 21:44

Range
Look at it as a positive. If you did get abducted or murdered and they found your blood at your home, at least they'd be able to match it to blood at the murder scene. :)

lookingforthecorkscrew · 01/01/2018 21:46

Weirdly enough I had this exact though last week! I’ve been bleeding a lot this pregnancy and three weeks ago I passed a huge clot on the hall carpet, which DH has tried his utmost to scrub off. I reckon forensics would have a field day with that!

Rangelife · 01/01/2018 21:47

That's true. They can access a fair bit of my blood Grin

And I'll keep this thread on my phone to exonerate DP!

I have endometriosis and had to have a full hysterectomy. I was very lucky as it was on my bowels and bladder and very nearly had to have a colostomy bag as it was scaring both of them. I went on HRT straight away and my life was so much better. I was less tired and could go anywhere without worrying. It was truly life changing. I had to have ivf to have my son and couldn’t have anymore children so that wasn’t a consideration for me.

Rangelife · 01/01/2018 22:02

I've been sterilised (which seemed to trigger the endo interestingly) so that's no a consideration for me either. Maybe I shouldn't have discounted the full hysterectomy so quickly.

I was worried about weight gain, loss of libido etc though? I had heat diathermy and ablation on my bladder and womb as was getting constant UTI's. The UTIs seem to have resolved but got IBD too. Not fun.

I've found my people. I had a horrendous haemorrhage when I lost my twins and our bathroom and hotpress(don't ask!) looked like a crime scene. The bathroom was those lino tiles and came up ok but hotpress carpet had to go and the floorboards underneath new carpet are stained even after bleach. I told DH he could be arrested for murder if anything ever happened to me but he's not convinced
