Frozen mince - am i missing something?

First time post and not a particularly riveting one but something is bugging me. I have recently bought frozen mince (cook from frozen) to try as i thought my usual fresh mince was a bit too big and chunky (i always buy 5%fat).

Anyway, have made chilli and bolognese and i am converted - it is nicer, plus its cheaper.

A friend of mine couldn'd hide her disgust, like i said i had used sawdust or dog food as a substitute in my bolognese.

Food snob or what?

Quorn mince is too sweet for me.
I like Meat the Alternative or Tivali (but it's smaller grains)

Best one was RealEat but its not around now

We've been really impressed with the Waitrose one. Pretty sure it was British. Definitely good quality though.

Donald Russell steak mince when on offer. Couldn’t eat any other mince now.

I do prefer fresh as it's chunkier but the convenience of frozen often wins me over. We always have a bag in the freezer.

Erggghhhhh just the thought of it makes me want to vom and I don't even know why

Aldi Angus mince is really good and i usually don’t like mince. It’s not grisly like i find the fresh type.

I always make extra bolognese or chilli or whatever. Couldnt refreeze

The reason why the cheap frozen mince dissolve to mush is because it is made of a couple of parts fat, a couple of parts meat shavings (so blocks of meat ‘dust’ and a couple of parts hearts which insures it is the right colour rather than white from all the fat. The more expensive versions may have slightly better ingredients but I wouldn’t go there.

Ensures!

I haven't dared try frozen mince since I bought it 17 years ago when we were skint teen parents. I bought that frozen 'pellet' mince it was rank, full of bouncy bits and bone.
I don't like the regular wormlike mince you get in supermarket packets either though. Only Morrisons butchers mince, mince from my local butcher or I buy meat and mince it myself.

The Waitrose one is very good, just seems to be frozen mince and nothing else

I'm put off now. If I was to buy a mincer, what cut of meat would I buy please? .
