Bit of a silly question, but I thought I'd check here to see what you all thought, as I couldn't find the answer anywhere else online.

I know that people need a TV licence to watch BBC iPlayer. Under these rules, are you still allowed to watch iPlayer outside your home (on public transport, for example)? Would you still be covered by the licence then?

Thanks.

timeihadanamechange yes that's exactly how it works,

So I managed being at my parents house without a licence, by charging when I wasn't either using it or using it but not using iPlayer, so when doctor who came on i took the charger out before I opened the app, when before I left my room in the morning I stuck the charger in so that I knew it would charge for the evening, when I was on FaceTime I charged it, etc.

I guess the thing is lpads have pretty long battery life so in that situation would you really be babysitting 5/6 hours watching tv without having to deal with the kids, in which case if you remember charge it whilst your with the kids and not using the app

Realistically though, the tv licensing people will not be able to determine whether or not you've plugged in your device.

You can charge up and emergency pack

Then charge your phone 😊

I don’t think tv licensing account for emergency battery packs 🤣

When it is charging, it is plugged into the mains

This is light hearted. Y’know that clear as mud thing talked about above. The charger is plugged into the mains. The device is plugged in to the charger. The device itself has no means to plug into the mains. Question of semantics, see? 😬
