My traditional pressure cooker has just died as the pressure bit and seals need changing so I think I will try this one....

Ieatcake · 06/01/2018 10:12

You can't just buy a thermomix can you?

farangatang · 07/01/2018 08:57

Thermomixes available from consultants, not retail stores. So not as convenient to purchase...

Ieatcake · 07/01/2018 10:51

I thought so, I'll buy one when Lidl make one for 250...

MyBabyIsPerfect · 08/01/2018 01:18

@Singlebutmarried would you be able to share your chicken instapot risotto recipe please?

Thank you 🙏😊

Wtfdoicare · 08/01/2018 09:41

Mybaby this is the basic risotto recipe I use, not specifically chicken but you can add some cubed raw chicken to the rice and it will cook in the same time. Risotto.

DrMarthaJones · 08/01/2018 09:54

meatballs in tomato sauce in 8minutes already, just on the stovetop, so that's not a selling point
then you ate half cooked meatballs in a raw nasty tomato sauce!

Yes, the instantpot is great.

Huntinginthedark · 08/01/2018 09:59

I found that after I cooked a stock in it, it had a strange smell and it made everything else smell. I really went off it.
Maybe I need to change the rubber sealing ring
Does anyone know of a good cookbook for it? Maybe I need to try again

DrMarthaJones · 08/01/2018 10:00

You have to clean the seal properly.

Huntinginthedark · 08/01/2018 10:06

I did! I even soaked it over night then bleached it
Finally got the smell out, but bloody hell it put me off. It was only beef bones for a stock!
My eldest child is very fussy with textures of food, especially anything chewy. My instant pot will cook diced beef in half an hour to the point that it's tender and starting to fall apart. Ds1 will eat it with a lot less fuss.
I like it because my favourite curry recipe takes two hours in the oven, but 30 minutes in the instant pot. I don't have to think so far ahead.
Cooks rice well, soup, mashed potato etc. Just wish it didn't tweedle when I take the lid on and off!
Well, as I do research on the internet, I found that most of people love IP. It is because they can make delicious, and fast meals with easy recipes coming from IP.

kentatas · 13/03/2018 13:40

It is great to have an instapot to cook things with simple recipes.

wholenewoutlook · 13/03/2018 13:44

I spent £99 on one as it was being raved about on here, before Christmas 2016.
Two weeks ago, having had it sitting in the corner of the kitchen for 15 months and never getting round to using it, I put it on ebay on a buy it now for £110. Sold it within 40 minutes, cash on collection.
If you are a gadget person who will put in the time to learn how to use it I'm sure it's great, but for me it was a great useless box with a great fat instruction booklet I didn't find time for.

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 13/03/2018 18:11

I’m still waiting for the instant pot to be available on Amazon!
I’m getting impatient!

ClosdesMouches · 20/03/2018 14:47

Well, they said it would be available in Feb/March.
Now they're saying April and no doubt whatever stock does arrive will sell out immediately because so many are waiting for one.
Tempted to look at the Pressure King one instead.

IP gives lots of nice recipes which we can cook delicious meals easily.

I know this is a zombie thread but I am resurrecting it for a reason.

The really positive Amazon reviews I have read seem to be from people who love theirs but have bought it fairly recently. Many of the negative reviews seem to focus on the machine breaking down in some way after a few months' use.

I am wondering how many people on this thread this happened to. If you liked in 2018 is it still going strong???

OVienna · 02/08/2019 12:09

I have one sitting in my cart atm...thinking it will be our saviour once school starts in Sept....
