AIBU to want to be paid on the right day?

I am a nanny, my pay day is the last day of the month. (Today!)

This morning I checked my bank and I hadn't been paid. I messaged one of my bosses and politely said that I hadn't received my wages. 4 hours pass and no reply and no wages paid.

I then text my other boss who replied "it's left our account, assume it will clear first thing Tuesday"

Great. Today is my payday not Tuesday. I appreciate that it's a Sunday, but is it too much to ask to be paid on the agreed day?

That isn't fair. you should be paid on the last working day of the month if you're paid monthly. And whatever day your payday is if it's a weekend or holiday you should be paid the day before. Unless it was some problem with the banks system.

My pay is always the last working day of the month and I got paid on Friday...it’s always the last working day even when I got paid the last day of the month. Their excuse is crap

Much like mine last month who “forgot” to pay me for 4 days despite it being a standing order for the last 3 years then also fuckin up this month (also a nanny here!!)

Crap excuse. I worked for 18 months in a small business where the owner did this. There was no cashflow issue, he was just massively tight and couldn't bear to part with cash so paid it out 11.59pm on the last day if the month so we didn't get it on time. That, and not getting a pay rise when I really deserved it I quit the job as it made me feel really undervalued. How do you feel about the job as a whole? Is it time to start looking for a new one. It is horrible asking your boss where your salary is and then they gaslight you like everything is normal and you are being unreasonable.

Totally not on, if you get any charges because of this I'd ask for them to cover them too.

In his last job my DH used to get paid by cheque! Was supposed to get it so it could be cleared by the last working day of the month. Tended to get it on a Sunday, had to pay it in on the Monday and wait for it to clear. Was a right pain as certain cheque book holders didn't take into account the delay in receiving the money. When the last Sunday hit really late in the month he had to ask for it early, was really awkward and he hated it. Had many bank charges because of this, never got any of them covered. Thankfully an ex bank manager became a signatory and understood the banking system, we used to go and pick up the cheque earlier, from his house on the way to the town our bank was in, and get it paid in earlier. For so many months the business had been breaking the law by paying late, though, so glad to be out of it (for many reasons).

Think about your future pay days and make sure your employer(s) know to pay you on time.

I pay my nanny by transfer - it's instant 24/7. Your employers are being ridiculous
