no one is home from 7 to 5 most days.

Could I send it to a dogminder? We live in London, there must be lots of crazy people who do that judging from the professional dogwalkers I see.

dd1 is deperate.

Yeah, think of the money you'd save - wouldn't have to pay for gym membership for a start!

Being a ft dog walker I mean!

I would say a HUGE no....I am home FT and have a gorgeous lively springer.....who needs walking 2x a day - that's the easy bit....You also have to wash your floors everyday, wash the dog (if they choose to roll in foxs poo), hoover as hair gets everywhere......its not an easy option and I wouldn't recommend especially as you seem to think it will just be the walking aspect....oh and they dig up the garden, bring lots of mud in ....I got the dog for the kids and its me who does everything so my suggestion is think very very carefully before committing....

absolutely!! Dogs are hard work and need someone home part time at least. And dont rely on the kids to do the work... You know that saying 'a dog is for lige not just for christmas' It really is true!
