Christmas clothes....

AIBU to dress my two little ones, 15 months and 2.7 years, in their Christmas dresses, jumpers and leggings after the new year?

They were each given 3 jumpers, 3 dresses and a pair of leggings all Christmas themed and it seems such a waste to effectively 'bin them' because Christmas is officially over after the weekend. I haven't included their santa and elf outfits because I know they can't really wear those in January and their Christmas themed pjs they'll be wearing until they no longer fit.

Why would you bin them?

Just give them to a charity shop.

It will look a bit daft if they are obviously christmas i.e. says hohoho on it. But if its just a generic winter pattern, it should be fine.

My 8 year old wears his Christmas jumper all year round. Why not.

Aspieparent · 30/12/2017 13:13

My dcs have Christmas pjs, slippers, shirts and jumpers they do wear them after new year for knocking around house when we aren't going anywhere they are just clothes at end of day with pictures on I really don't think it matters.

lazyarse123 · 30/12/2017 13:14

They're just cute clothes for cute kids, course it's OK to wear them. Life is not a fashion statement.

DIngdongmerryilyonhigh · 30/12/2017 13:17

Ilove I don't mean I would literally bin them, I mean as in not wear them again.

I dress them in xmas clothes until new year.

After that, they can be random around the house clothes or at the beach going to get soaked layers.

Look daft to who? Who could possibly care whether someone elses small child is wearing a christmas jumper instead of a non christmas jumper?
Confused

DIngdongmerryilyonhigh · 30/12/2017 13:21

You know what you're right Curry and Lazy and Fire. I've just realised how ridiculous it is to actually care whether other people wonder why my children are wearing Christmas themed clothes,

We're all still wearing our Christmas clothes here! Smile

I think people would understand.

Maybe warn your relatives it to buy so many Christmas-themed things in future, especially if they’re gifts given on the day?

the eldest one’s clothes will pass down to youngest, so won’t “waste”. We always buy Christmas jumpers in sizes at least 1 year up so they last (so a 7-8 for a 6 yr old, this is easier as they get bigger as it’s genuinely not noticeable - one year it’s generous, one year it’s smaller). Leggings are usually just a nondescript pattern unless you’re looking hard so keep wearing those, and PJs, socks & pants etc are year-round.

Basically buy with longevity in mind in the first place.

My dd wears her Xmas stuff during the year and no one has ever commented on it, she just turned 9 BTW.
