To think that the pictures on new televisions are weird and scarey?

We’re looking for a new tv, and as I walk around the shops, I think -

1 - the screens are riDICulously big

2 - the images seem slightly slow-mo

3 - there’s a weird contrast that reminds me of Neighbours circa 1990’s. I cannot really explain it, sort of 3-D?

I cannot get my head around this - Seriously, 42inches seems to be the smallest after 32” .. .. and some shops don’t seem to have anything less than 50/55”...

Am I going to have nightmares after watching Whitechapel on one of these Xmas Shock

Echoing other comments that you can change the settings. I hate this too though, the way it makes everything look like Eastenders. We fixed one for a friend so we could watch movies and then he changed it back because he couldn't see the issue! Gremlins looked like we were physically on the Hollywood backlot with a video camera!

Yes i hate it was watching ET the other day i couldn't watch it. Its hard to describe my mothers tv is brand new and i feel like im in the tv watching them acting next to me. Is it hd or what?

I didn't know that TVs have different settings.

I hate our tv, we had a 42 inch which was perfectly acceptable until DP wanted a new one. We now have a 55 inch one which dominates the living room, I don't think the picture quality is as good despite it being super duper HD, 4K and all that shite. Would rather have the 42 back

It is called the soap opera effect.

Oh yeah, years ago my dad gushed about his new High Def TV. How marvellous the picture was. I tried to see what he saw in it.

It looks like cheap video film to me. I can get used to it, but can't imagine preferring it and keep wishing I could turn the HD off.

Well I’ve turne off the “motion control”. . Tried the recommended settings from the article posted yesterday, and turned everything off, and all three approaches made a difference.

The first thing I tried on the new tv was blue planet - felt sea sick in 3 seconds!! will try again with the new adjustments..

The Sydney fireworks were pretty wonderful ! Good luck all..
