Or is my neighbour?

My neighbours have recently got into a habit of throwing meat carcass’ into my garden and claiming this is an accident. They say they mean to aim it over the railway line at the end of our gardens to feed the foxes.

I highly suspect this is due to the fact I have chickens (no cockerel) so no loud noises at silly times. My chickens are very quiet. Because of their carcass throwing I have lost a chicken to the foxes despite them being what I thought was secure. Before this happened I haven’t ever lost a chicken in all the three years I’ve owned them.

I have asked them to stop but to be honest even if they are throwing the carcass anywhere near my property it’s still attracting foxes to my chickens.

AIBU?

NBU at all. Your neighbors sounds horrible.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 29/12/2017 19:44

Surely they aren’t just allowed to chuck food about the place? People are advised to makes sure food waste is in the bins and bins secured so as not to attract rats. Sounds like a call to the council might be needed.

CoffeenoTea · 29/12/2017 19:44

Report them to the council, it's got to be a health hazard. Rats and sorts will be around.

MsVestibule · 29/12/2017 19:45

YANBU. Can you just throw them back, preferably towards their windows?

TheTasteOfInk · 29/12/2017 19:46

Grotty evil twats. Put it back through their letterbox.

MyKingdomForBrie · 29/12/2017 19:47

What the fuck?! Who does this?? I would be absolutely raging that’s a health hazard as well as dangerous to your livestock and any wandering cats. What disgusting people.

KarmaStar · 29/12/2017 19:49

I'd report them OP.you anbu

TheNoseyProject · 29/12/2017 19:50

What? Why would you feed foxes —or more to the point rats— and do they think foxes tidy up after themselves? If they love foxes so much they should put it in their yard - the foxes will come —cough rats cough—

Speak to your council you can’t leave rubbishy lying around like this it’s littering at best, health issue at worst and batshit either way

Santasbigredbobblehat · 29/12/2017 19:51

Def report.
Take photos and make of note of when it happens.

BulletFox · 29/12/2017 19:52

Vestibule Grin

OP, council, pronto. They sound nuts.

MikeUniformMike · 29/12/2017 19:56

Throw them back.

Maelstrop · 29/12/2017 19:58

Also, cooked bones are extremely dangerous for the poor foxes.

BulletFox · 29/12/2017 20:00

Is there anyway you can keep the chickens in at night (sorry if this is a daft question, I've never owned any)?

Do you think this is a passive aggressive thing about clucks? Yes to keeping a diary and photos and throwing the meat back.

Are they ok to talk to...?

Hope chicks stay safe from now on

StripeyDeckchair · 29/12/2017 20:04

Film it
Contact the environmental health dept at your local council
Send them the videos

It's a public health issue - sod foxes it's the rats they'd attract that would freak me out.

topcat2014 · 29/12/2017 20:08

Barking, must be against some law or other..

CoraPirbright · 29/12/2017 20:10

Can you print something off t’internet regarding cooked bones and their propensity to shatter into razor sharp shards making them very very dangerous for dogs (and therefore foxes)? If they genuinely love the foxes then this might help.......

But my money is on them being total fuckers so I would report them to the council.

BulletFox · 29/12/2017 20:13

Seriously, it's your neighbour BU. They can't go about throwing around carcasses: "oh whoops!!"

Or they're a seriously bad aim.

If they wanted to feed to feed the foxes so much they could do it in their own garden.

roomsonfire · 29/12/2017 20:25

I'd have thought them throwing rubbish into your garden could be considered fly tipping, OP.

record each incident. photograph it then dispose of it however you see fit. get in touch with the council about this as soon as you can and keep the logs of it. It'll help them deal with it.

I would tell them you suspect its an attempt to force you to get rid of the chickens by drawing foxes into your garden and be prepared for your neighbour to say the 'noisy chickens' are an issue.
