I'm running out of ideas! Is going to be just us, the family, four in total. I'm craving for something fancy, a bit especial, different but don't know what to do apart from a nice meal and movies. Please share your thoughts or ideas for this "party time". No family or friend nearby!

Quiet one for us too.
I will be home with the dc. We might do a buffet and watch something on TV, but it will be just a pother night really. My eldest ds is going out into town (first new year out), so I will be nervously waiting for him to fall in the door 😂😂

last year we spent the day at the zoo then had a meal out early evening before heading home & watching a dvd with the kids. It was lovely.

I’d spent the couple of New Years before at parties, but the inevitable drama made want to focus that day / night on my family!

WipsGlitter · 29/12/2017 17:17

Nothing. Might suggest DH takes DS1 to the cinema.

Dinner and wine.

Usually watch the fireworks with DH on tv. Don't think I can even be arsed with that this year.

Overthehillsandfaraway8 · 29/12/2017 17:23

going out for a meal with live music.

TheSnowballFairy · 29/12/2017 17:27

@Clary congratulations on your engagement!

NY Eve - nothing planned (me, DH, DC aged 15, 13 and 9). Oh yes - DS 15 is at a sleepover. Such party animals Xmas Wink. Maybe watch Paddington 2?!

hellswelshy · 29/12/2017 17:31

We are taking dd's (nearly 10) out to Pizza Express for a nice but child friendly dinner. Then back home early evening - possibly play a game of something, they won't last till midnight so me & dh will have a glass of bubbly and watch Jools Holland SmileWine

NewNameWhoDis · 29/12/2017 17:31

Before DD arrived the 4 of us (DP, 2 DS's and me) would do party food, games and alcohol for DP and me. Buzz on the playstation was always great fun. But now DD(3) will be in bed so we will have to opt for a quieter option (small house, noise travels to her room too easily) so probably just party food, maybe card games or movies.

cloudyweewee · 29/12/2017 17:33

I go to bed at the usual time but with earplugs in so I'm not woken up by the sodding fireworks.

EvilDoctorHogmanayDuck · 29/12/2017 17:35

Go to bed straight after DD, which will be about midnight anyway, as it's the holidays.

INeedToEat · 29/12/2017 17:43

DS 1 will be out till about 3am and DS 2 is having a sleep over/party at a friend's so it looks like I'll be alone.

Perfect.

jelliebelly · 29/12/2017 18:00

Takeaway and tv after kids in bed - I’ve never been a party animal!

2gorgeousboys · 29/12/2017 18:09

Usually we stay in and have a nice meal or buffet, play board games and drink champagne. We all stay up until we've watched the fireworks at midnight (boys are teenagers).

This year however DS1 is off to a party at a friends house and we are going to some friends for a meal, games, champagne etc. Really looking forward to a relaxed evening with good friends.

Crumbs1 · 29/12/2017 18:13

Going over to our island cottage with another couple for three days. Walk dogs, no cooking at all, meal out on NYE in Spyglass inn which allows dogs and has an Irish group playing. Gentle rather than wild excitement.

TheOtherGirl · 29/12/2017 18:25

Going round to friends for a house party. It'll be a houseful because everyone's bringing their kids too.

We'll do an Eighties Disco. Cocktails and nibbles. Can't wait Smile

8mileeminem · 29/12/2017 19:24

I'm working the evening shift this year Angry, so hoping to finish around 11 pm then home in time for watching fireworks/bigben. I will wake my dd up when I get in so she can watch them too.

milliemolliemou · 29/12/2017 19:41

Sitting on my dog when the fireworks start. Huge fire, favourite food - then dog-sitting from 2300 -0100. If he doesn't squirm or bark too much might read a good book. Never understood New Year's Eve.

TabbyTigger · 29/12/2017 19:47

Our neighbours/family friends have a moderately sized party (maybe 6-8 families each year, depending on who can come) so we just go to that. If they didn’t throw something I doubt we’d host anything or go anywhere!
