To think that toys should last more than 24h?

Both DCs got a remote control car for Christmas. By yesterday, the toddler one's controller had broken (buttons not connecting any more). And the spare battery for the race car wasn't holding a charge.
So that's me on the phone to Tesco Direct and one Amazon return.
We aren't sure whether to return the whole race car too - DH says he thinks the battery that is working is under powered.
AIBU to think it should be possible to get remote control cars that actually work?

Right, Tesco are replacing the toddler one, but now the main battery in the race car won't hold a charge.
So two returns to Amazon (and they have to go to different shops) and one to Tesco (a third shop) and we've promised we'll find a better one for the 5yo.

I've always found remote control cars absolute rubbish. I won't buy them anymore as they always break.

This is what we're finding.

You were definitely unlucky, even more frustrating than normal when it's Christmas.

If you've got a young toddler though, the remote controlled car by B toys is nice and sturdy. Easy to use for a toddler as well.

I don't know if we are lucky but we've had an i8 from amazon for 3 years and two toddlers rough play still going strong, as well as a construction digger from Smyths for the last twelve months also fairly rough and tumble play but again no issues. :)

Great recommendations thanks!
