To be buying presents for yourself from the kids still.

Niece is 14, Nephews are 13 and 16.

Eldest has a part time job and all three of them get pocket money that they earn by doing various chores in the house.

My sister and her husband bought their own presents from the kids (the kids had a budget and chose the gifts but their parents paid)

AIBU to think they are old enough to buy gifts themselves with their own money? Especially the oldest.

My dh gave our dc money to pick presents each for me. I did the same for him. Its not a big deal. They gradually began to get their own gifts or added own money if wanted to get something bigger. It all worked. They grew up perfectly able to buy gifts and able to manage money..wellmost of the time!
I am in my 50s and my dad gave me money to buy my dm a present until l was earning.
