Rhinoplasty AIBU

Starting this off the back of another thread Blush
[name removed by MNHQ at poster's request] in London. They were very, very pleased with the procedure since having it done two and a half years ago. They'd done huge amounts of research before going ahead with choosing who they wanted to go with for the procedure.

Rhinoplasties with him cost £10,000 though. I am very, very tempted to book an appointment with [name removed] though, as I feel really reassured that he's delivered such brilliant results for his patients.

I'm sure I'd like a rhinoplasty rather than dermal fillers to change the shape of my nose, as the rhinoplasty shape is permanent, but any nose shape change made by the dermal fillers is only temporary.

My AIBU is: AIBU to ask if anyone knows of any very good surgeons (based in London, if possible) who do rhinoplasty procedures for less than £10,000?

Thanks very much.

I cant help you with your AIBU as I dont know any plastic surgeons in London but it sounds like from your post that the reason the surgeon you are keen on costs so much is because of his expertise and satisfied customers, cant say I know much about rhinoplasty but changing part of your body is of course a big deal and not something I would skimp costs on and if you are sure he will do a good job then its worth saving up for.

No, I've only heard about the scandal where a surgeon did nose jobs on a number of people who indeed got very "pretty noses" but afterwards they could not breathe through their noses, claiming it's like permanently having two tampons stuffed up their noses. It's not possible to operate back and open the airways either, what's gone and removed is gone.

If you cannot get your nose job done for free by the NHS, you might want to reconsider if it's worth the risk, in my opinion.

Here's a book for you: www.amazon.com/Having-Nasal-Surgery-Become-Victim/dp/1583851976?tag=mumsnetforum-21 "If one person can be saved from the devastation this surgery can cause, he will have performed a great service."--Wellington S. Tichenor, M.D., ... and wrote the introduction for this book".

This OP reads very like an advert for Dr Ion...

WellAlwaysHaveParis · 27/12/2017 01:19

Oh god sorry I promise it isn't MrsTerryPratchett. I was in two minds about whether to put his name in the OP Blush I'll get MNHQ to remove the name.

Don't do a nose job, please. It doesn't seem worth it when you consider possible breathing problems.

Straycatblue · 27/12/2017 01:21

His name sounds like a superhero/villain. Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/12/2017 01:21

Cool. I just read your other thread. This is NOT about your nose. It's about bullying and envy and relationships and a whole bunch of other things but it isn't about your nose.

WellAlwaysHaveParis · 27/12/2017 01:25

Thanks everyone Flowers how the fuck do I unpick the omnishambles that I've made my life into???? Anyone know any good counsellors? I agree that it's not about my nose and that it's actually about other issues.

OK. So you are in your 20s and have a million years to sort your stuff out Grin

As far as I can tell from your posts, you basically felt lesser than your sister, then people at school and university. And hung it partially on your appearance.

What are you good at? What makes you happy? What things are 'yours' and unique and special about you? Who are you? Once you've worked that out, do more of that stuff. For example I loved reading and travel at your age. So I read really interesting books and traveled a lot. And guess what? My DH just happens to come from another country and we spoke about books the night we met. I doubt he looked twice at my overly long, ski-jump nose.

I think women need to stop worrying about the things they think are sub-par and start celebrating the things that are wonderful about them. Men don't care. DH has a nose like that rugby player that married a royal. Never bothered him!

@MrsTerryPratchett thanks so much - you're spot-on, and your comments are so helpful Flowers
