Trying to deal with a dog poo problem.

Background- we live in a village but it has recently been extended to have a brand new estate of 120 houses. It’s a nice estate but recently one of the streets have moved in (9 houses) we know because they live the next street up and have been empty until the 15th December when all 9 were moved into.

Since then there has been a distinctive Dog poo on a round every single day. It’s huge and bright orange. So obviously the same Dog. Who ever owns the dog obviously has no intent in picking up the poo off the pavement because there are now 8 poos in a range of locations along the lane including two directly outside our house.

On Christmas Day my eldest got a new bike for Christmas and managed to roll in one (not difficult when there are so many)

Although we have a dog and therefore poo bags I’m loathed to pick up someone else’s poo and leave it in my bin to smell.

Would it be unreasonable to complain to their HA or to the developers? Is there anything they can even do ? I’m not sure which house it is but we’ve been here two years since they started building and never ever had this issue. It’s also a dead end so not likely to be anyone walking by.

If we catch them should we say anything- or is that likely to spark off problems.
It’s really grim though and likely to get worse if there have been 8 since the 15th.

If you ask your local councillor, they may be able to supply you with notices about fines for dog fouling - there was a similar problem on a street near here, and some of the people on the street starting putting those notices up on their fences (plus added notices saying asking anyone who could identify the one persistent offender to report them) and the enormous brick-red piles of poo are no longer appearing. Sounds like the culprit has moved to your area...

Some meds cause orange poo.

I have a yellow chalk spray to use. As well as the odd small poo which belongs to a small dog that is pulled around by some small children, we also have a turd dropper that uses a small black bag to pick it up and then leaves it on the pavement or in the gutter. One day I will be taking the small poos and leaving them outside the owners house or on their doorstop. If I ever catch the turd bag dropper I will be taking their photo and following them home before reporting on FixMyStreet with said photo.

@Enwi spray Jeyes fluid all across the entrance to your drive. Keep it up every evening for a while until the habit is broken. They dog will smell it a mile away and not want to poo there.

Blurrrrrrrrgh...

Orange dog poo... almost always caused by feeding really really cheap shite like Wagg, this stuff is also impervious to rain, wind, or snow.. the stuff has a half life of about 8billion years.

What REALLY gets me is that these phantom poo-leavers walk the same route every day and must quite rapidly have to spend a lot of time avoiding stepping in their OWN dogs shite...

Put up signs asking people to pick up. Lie in wait for the culprit and make them scrape it up....

Don't do the jeyes fluid thing particularly if you have your own dog, its pretty toxic to animals!

I have 3 dogs including the biggest dog ever Shock and there’s someone round here that leaves gigantic bright orange (sign of a super cheap nasty shit diet) dog turds on the corner of the local junior school almost daily Angry. Although I’ve also witnessed a very aggressive drunk homeless man round here, dragging a massive American bulldog round whilst it was shitting and when I offered him a poo bag he just screamed abuse at me and the dog and kicked the dog hard...

Some people just shouldn’t have dogs. Or kids.

We had this a couple of years ago. After much ranting from me and my neighbours on the local fb page it stopped then started again a month or so later.

I eventually caught them letting their dog shit across the road from my house. It was dark and 6am. I had opened the front door to pass dp his flask as he had forgotten it and was on his way back and didn't want him clomping through the house in work boots. Caught the shitter mid shit then watched as owner sauntered off. Had my phone in my hand so took his photo and when he turned around explained that if it ever happened again his photo would be on fb for everyone to see.

Bizarrely he was one of those saying 'omg it's discusting (his spelling) hun, we always pick up after our dog, hope you catch the dirty gits'.

I also phoned the council several times. They could only request poo bins and no budget left. And some signs putting. No budget left. And suggested spray painting in washable paint around the turds to make it more visable.

I would suggest the local fb page. And get up really early a few times to catch them at it. Our poo always appeared after dp had left for work at 5.30am but before ndn (postie) left at 7am. Always the same sized poo and same colour. Sigh.

It's never happened since I caught him to be fair.

I think you need to keep and eye and pop out if you see them but failing that I had the same issue, for months we had someone let their dog poop outside our house more than once at the top of our path - I was furious!!
I contacted council and they cleaned up, neighbours complained but no long term solution so I bought a 99p please pick up after your dog sign stuck it in a stick and put it at the top of my path. It has never happened again and it's been almost a year, it tells them you've noticed and are likely watching.
I did start to hang about when dog walkers passed it was really fucking me off I had to do something. I had a dog too so not a dog hater Grinp
