something to look forward too

I woke up this morning thinking that I have nothing to look forward too. pathetic I know so I have been giving things some thought and have come up with this. No matter what I do it always revolves around keeping someone else happy and I am pissed off with it. I am going to do/plan something just for me in the near future. My problem is that I cannot think what this amazing thing will be. (must be cheap). Any ideas out there, please.

Well you could make a list of little treats for yourself.
Simple things like buying some bath stuff and making time for a relaxing soak.
Going out for a coffee with a new book.
Decorate a room.

But perhaps you could also start saving up a little bit for a bigger treat for yourself? A trip away? Anywhere you want to visit?
Theatre trip?

Thanks Cakey, all those are possible, maybe I am just a grinch but sometimes I just feel like I am somebody's something or other. Not a very serious problem I know. Now I feel like bad because lots of people are on their own. Bugger it. I hate Christmas.

Don't think of it as Christmas, think of it as "what do I want out of this and what do I want to do". I doubt you'll want to actively hurt anyone, but equally why should you be hurt?

How about this:

Whatever decision arises from now on, instead of saying 'yes' (because you say you put others first), say 'no' and put yourself first. When you are used to unburdening yourself with the guilt 'no' brings and you're gradually happier about putting yourself first, you might come up with the thing/idea that you're looking for?

Is there any sport/hobby that you'd like to do? I used to really look forward to a 90 minute karate class once a week.

Thanks everyone, this afternoon I went to the sales. I didn't really buy much but it was nice to be out. I also went to a patisserie and had tea and cake. It was nice to be waited on but cost £7. Still, it's not every day, is it?

Dh's birthday is the 30th and we book a week end away either Jan /early Feb.
Gets me through the madness of the festive period knowing we have a break planned!!

RunningOutOfCharge · 26/12/2017 17:33

I book myself events. Running events.... a 10K or half marathon. Just for me ( but adult DD's sometimes come to run as well or watch)

Then I get to train... peace and quiet for me too

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 26/12/2017 17:34

Nice OP! Tell me this though...what would you call your ambition? Do you have one?

For me, the nice things I do for myself are all to do with trying to realise an ambition of mine...I have a few though!

I've been having electrolysis for nearly two years (I have a beard thanks to PCOS) and the beauticians does a loyalty points scheme where you can redeem your points on a little menu of treatments. This year one of the treatments included was a back, neck and shoulder massage, so I booked myself in. It was amazing - I floated out of there when it was finished.

I have a desk job, and my posture isn't great, but it seemed to undo a year's worth of knots and stress. I've decided I'm going to save up and have one every three months - just to have something to look forward to, that's for me.

Take time for yourself regularly. On a day to day basis go out for a walk or exercise, get into a box set that you want to watch, read, listen to music you like, use shower and bath stuff that you love.
I love exploring new places so I make sure I do that fairly regularly I either go by myself or drag my family or a friend with me.
I also love to learn so listen to stimulating radio and read articles.
