...A Muppet Christmas Carol?

It's just so Christmassy and fun with such good music. Gives me a warm, snugly, cinnamon scented feeling deep within every time I watch it. On at 6:30 on Channel 4 today. (Christmas Eve)

What does it for you?

Thank you so much OP for starting this thread! DP and I were going to buy it on Amazon Tv as we didn't realise it was on.

I quite agree that it wouldn't be Christmas without it!

A turkey , bacon , lettuce , bread sauce and cranberry sauce baguette at Christmas Day tea time .

I like a traditional Christmas dinner , but I live for the leftovers .

I can't believe no ones mentioned Scrooged! That and die hard with baileys and the mumsnet favourite of 'picky bits'.

croon979 · 24/12/2017 17:45

Santa Claus the Movie on Xmas eve for me - begins Christmas

mrsBeverleyGoldberg · 24/12/2017 17:52

Gavin and Stacey Christmas special.
I love their family. They're not perfect but they love each other. I like the contrast that Gavin's family have all the glam and expensive things and Stacey's like the simple things. I wish my parents were like Mick and Pamelaaarrrr. They're abusive. When I watch, i pretend they're my family. Although poor Smithy has the worst Christmas. But we've all had those.

RelapsedChocoholic · 24/12/2017 18:29

Muppet Christmas Carol is on my phone year round, even though I only watch tv Christmas Eve. One of my favourite films ever!

RelapsedChocoholic · 24/12/2017 18:30

*watch it! (Although my netflix habit does mean I don’t watch actual tv much...)

Glumglowworm · 24/12/2017 18:47

Donny I want a hippopotamus for Christmas is my favourite Christmas song! I’m so glad someone else loves it too, most people look at me blankly (apart from those I’ve, erm, infected with it)

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas
Fairy Tale of New York
Doctor Who Christmas Special

Amanduh · 24/12/2017 18:52

Love Actually, The Holiday, christingle, carols from Kings

YulePutTatOnMyChristmasTree · 24/12/2017 18:57

Is Die Hard on this year? I’ve not been very impressed with Christmas Eve tv so far

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 24/12/2017 19:00

glum my cousin and I love the song. She lives away now and I don’t see her but I always record a bit of me singing along every time I hear it on the radio and send her it Grin

ZombieJenna · 24/12/2017 19:00

Definitely Box of Delights, it wouldn't be Christmas without it! Also as many versions of Scrooge/A Christmas Carol as I can sneak past DH/DSD - so far we've had Albert Finney, Kelsey Grammar, Bill Murray and the Muppets Grin

FuzzyCustard · 24/12/2017 19:04

Jesus Christ. That's what it's all about.

But I like Muppet Christmas Carol too...singing vegetables and skating penguins...what's not to like?

Anniegetyourgun · 24/12/2017 19:05

I won't be watching telly. Only ever see it at other people's houses these days. Might run a few carols from Youtube to get in the mood, otherwise it'll be festive demon-slaying and dwarf-killing all the way.

Muppet Christmas Carol is good, but I watched it so many times when DS4 was small that I know the whole thing off by heart and don't need to see it ever again. (Muppet Treasure Island is possibly even better, by a short head. At least I prefer the music - and of course "Roll call...")

Onlyoldontheoutside · 24/12/2017 19:17

Carols, watching the snow man and snow dog with DD,late night wrapping and putting her stocking in her room.
Having everything done and just not worrying about anything forgotten.
This is our first Christmas just the two of us,she is 14 .We have visited all relatives and happily snuggled on the sofa.
Hopping all you mums netters out there have a good Christmas whatever the circumstances.
