To ask for helllllp with xmas dinner.

I am cooking for six - I've cooked Xmas dinner for 25 years and every year I feel trepidation. I'm a fairly capable person and reasonable cook.

I am not feeling 100% (bug) so want to keep things simple.

I have huge Turkey and a gammon that can't go in together.

Previously cooked ham in coke but dd2 doesn't like that and she will only be having gammon so conceding on that one.

So how should i cook it sans coke ? Just roast for the whole time or boil in water then blast in oven? Will probably cook it tonight

You can do it either way chaplin. If you oven bake it you need to tent it in foil until the last bit when you put the glaze on.

Pop the ham in the slow cooker and pour in a can of cider and top up with water. Or the same with apple juice.

Slow cook then roast for 25 minutes in the oven. Simple and tasty :) x

I boil. My Gammon for about 20 mins and them cover in honey and tinfoil and roast for about an hour and a half

Mine is going in the slow cooker with brown sugar overnight. Should be lovely.

I put slices of orange and lemon on the top of the gammon, a good dollop of honey and a squeeze of orange, lemon and lime juice and roast it in the oven basting it occasionally with the honey & citrus juices

Ok so mine appeared to be pre glazed - damn you click and collect so we are oven baking in foil. Should have bought it from the butchers like always Hmm0

Would it help you with space if you cut the gammon up, froze most of it for another time? You've probably got loads of food foe six without the gammon, only DD to worry about. Is there something else she would eat?
