Data Protection breach?

Just opened a delivery from Uniqlo to find that they've included someone else's invoice (with name and address details) along with mine.

AIBU to think I should report this(and if so to whom?), or should I just tear it up and forget about it?

report it to 101. get it logged in case they do it again

DottyBlue2 · 24/12/2017 09:04

I'd phone the Daily Mail.

TeenTimesTwo · 24/12/2017 09:05

Tear it up and forget about it.
It's not like you've been sent their medical details, and details of their offshore bank accounts.
I can find loads of names and addresses in the phonebook.

(Unless Uniqlo is some hypersensitive organisation).

RadioGaGoo · 24/12/2017 09:06

This is already my favourite thread.

foreverHoldYourPiece · 24/12/2017 09:06

Shit, you now know someone's name and address? Like a phonebook does.

You you understand what data protection is?

eternalopt · 24/12/2017 09:07

Call the information commissioner straight away. I hear they’re open on Christmas Eve for such emergencies!!

Or, if you want a serious answer...

It’s personal data, but it’s not sensitive personal data. No one will care. Chill.

SheGotOffThePlane · 24/12/2017 09:07

When I received my new mortgage paperwork recently it included a stray page with details of someone else's house purchase - eg names, address, value of their home, bank details etc etc.
I just shredded it.

nobutreally · 24/12/2017 09:08

ICO would be your contact (Information Commissioners Office) ico.org.uk/concerns/ This would imo count as a breach, and does suggest they've dropped a ball, although I can't imagine the info is hugely private or confidential (address details at most I'm guessing OP)
Personally, on Christmas eve, I wouldn't bother, but otoh I am googling ICO details for a random on mn!

loobylou10 · 24/12/2017 09:09

It is personal data so does breach DP rules (soon to be GDPR), but who cares? Tear it up

GrrrHotdogs · 24/12/2017 09:13

What did they order ? 👀

GinisLife · 24/12/2017 09:16

This is a joke ?? Please tell me you're pulling our legs 🙈🙈

stickytoffeevodka · 24/12/2017 09:16

It is technically a data breach, but I would just bin it and forget about it. They'll have had loads of orders over Christmas - it's easy for a stray bit of paper to get stuck to another and end up in the wrong package.

GlitterGlue · 24/12/2017 09:18

I'd be kind and post it to the receipient, just case they need it.

MissBeehiving · 24/12/2017 09:19

What about a nice public flogging?

sagamartha · 24/12/2017 09:21

Indeed.

There should be systems in place to ensure details don't go to the wrong address - but with lots of paper being involved, you can see how mistakes happen.

It's not a serious breach of data protection.

I can think of far worse. -- like when the NHS sent details of my private in depth psychological report to my old address because they hadn't updated all their address records when told.

londonrach · 24/12/2017 09:22

Wow...april 1st if op is serious surely

EBearhug · 24/12/2017 09:23

I had that from something I ordered online. I let them know because it is technically a data breach, but more because they might need to check the if other person''s order was otherwise sent out correctly. And having informed them they made a mistake, I left them to it as I had received the things I was expecting to.
