AIBU to regret not having bought a Christmas jumper before

For the past few years, I have thought Christmas jumpers were horrible and naff and vowed never to wear one. Last Christmas, then 7yo DD noticed that at school Christmas events most other parents were in Christmas jumpers and wanted to know why I wasn't. I explained my reasons whilst inwardly being aware that part of the problem was that, being pear shaped, short & overweight, jumpers are generally really unflattering and I wanted to swan around looking effortlessly cool and stylish.
Fast forward to this year, DD started her pester power again, had counter arguments for all of mine and I didn't want to admit the real reason so I bought one from Primark.
I love it! At any event this month which hasn't required a cocktail dress, I have worn my Christmas jumper. It is effortless as I just chuck it on with jeans without any thought as to whether it is appropriate as it will be. It isn't stylish but I blend in with those around me.
Is there a January equivalent? Or would that be gym gear as everyone desperately tries to stick to their New Year resolutions?

SmileSmile love when people let go of their negativity about things that don't matter and find something fun!

I'm with you OP! Finally caved in this year and bought a gingerbread man one from Primark and it is the confiest piece of clothing I have ever owned. I wear it at any opportunity!

MyYoniFromHull · 23/12/2017 21:57

I wore mine yesterday to work. When I got home OH said I ' Iook like such a manager' so I guess I still look uncomfortable in mufti Grin (I wear uniform usually)

skippykips · 23/12/2017 22:30

I have never done the xmas jumper thing. My kids and DP all do. I put snowman earrings in and tinsel in my hair. I feel like I should go and get a jumper after reading this!

agentdaisy · 24/12/2017 11:42

I love my Christmas jumper. I've got a Game of Thrones one that I've worn at every opportunity the last few weeks. It's an easy outfit, throw it on with a pair of jeans and some boots and I'm good to go.

OddestSock · 24/12/2017 11:47

I’m the same, except I haven’t bought one this year either :( I actually really wanted one but didn’t get round to it. Perhaps I can pick one up in the sales & have it ready for next year :)

OddestSock · 24/12/2017 11:59

Right, I’ve got straight into it & bought one for next year!

clippityclock · 24/12/2017 12:00

I'm gutted because I had to buy new matching ones this year for me and DS because the bugger has grown Grin

I'm also taking great delight in forcing him to wear it to keep me happy Grin

I love a Christmas jumper.

Bambamber · 24/12/2017 12:07

I've always been a bit bah humbug at Christmas and grumble at anything even remotely christmassy. This year is my first with a child and have a Christmas jumper and am actually getting in the spirit of things Xmas Smile

bakingcupcakes · 24/12/2017 12:17

bangbang I have the gingerbread one from Primark too aswell as the grey reindeer one in the same style. I love them both and have worn them all month. Don't know what I'll do in January!

NurseButtercup · 24/12/2017 12:31

Ooooh I'm with you op for years I thought the Xmas jumpers were naff and ugly and would make me look fat. However this year, something came over me I think it's called the Xmas spirit. I had to have a Xmas jumper, but I took it a step further and bought a Xmas jumper dress!! Worn with matching Xmas pudding earrings I look fabulous.

I'm a bit gutted that my dress is now retailing for £10 (I paid £40).

One of my friends has 12 Xmas jumpers and wears a different jumper for the 12 days leading up to Xmas (posts pictures on Facebook and Instagram as proof)

I challenge you to up your 2018 Xmas outfit and get a Xmas jumper dress (ideally purchased dirt cheap in the sales) - your DD will LOVE you Xmas Grin

slimyslitheryslug · 24/12/2017 14:10

Ooohhh ... twelve days of Christmas jumpers. The only problem is that that would require effort as I would have to decide which one to wear when.
I am so pleased I'm not the only one to have embraced the look this year. I'm in mine again today. What am I going to wear next week?!!

I bought one this year too, for the first time. Tasteful, so I can wear it throughout December in years to come. I feel good wearing it, and it is so easy. In the January sales I’m going to find some red suede shoes to go with it.

FlouncyDoves · 24/12/2017 14:30

Saw this one on someone yesterday.

Wish it wasn’t sold out (and so close to the big day!).

I have got 3. Blush

One red, one black, and one green!

I wear one every day after the 10th of December. (Til Boxing day!)

apoppetonastring · 24/12/2017 14:33

Had the first one 5 years ago! Second one 3 years ago. And the third one this month. Smile

Cocolepew · 24/12/2017 14:34

I work in a school and wear a christmas jumper/sweatshirt every day of December.
My new one this year is a grey sweatshirt with the Grinch in sequins.

I started a new job this year in a department that loves Christmas. I’ve had to buy a couple of jumpers to be a team player.
Why did I not do this before?!!!

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 24/12/2017 14:39

Unfortunately, with my boobs it just looked like it read Prosecco Ho, which wasn’t the look I was going for

Ha ha I love that!

Cocolepew · 24/12/2017 14:43

Xmas Grin Snowballs

RaininSummer · 24/12/2017 14:46

I borrowed one for office lunch and liked it more than I expected.
