Giving this to toddler...

7 year old and 2.5 year old wanted to fix something and the oldest asked for kitchen tools and they get to play with plastic utensils.

DH gave them a screwdriver and a metal measuring tape.

AIBU to think this was stupid and unsafe?

I agree with the No to the tape measure. I have had a few injuries when it has pinged back. The edge is very sharp. My 5 yr old often finds mine out my handbag (I use it at work) and tries to play with it.

Screw driver isnt fine unsupervised

Poke in the eye with it. Running with it and call on it.

Don't your dc understand the dangers

They're children .

*fall not call

Not a metal measuring tape.
Screwdriver with supervision for older child, not for the toddler. It's too dangerous. Eyes are too precious.

I am an adult and sliced my hand pretty deep with our metal measuring tape a couple of months ago. I wouldn’t be happy if my DH gave either to our toddler!
