To give my toddler breast milk?

DS is 3 and has a bad cough and terrible cold. He's miserable but will not take any cough medicine - he has a really sensitive gag reflex and even when I have previously been able to coax him into taking it he's been sick almost instantly.

I'm currently breastfeeding his 7 month old sister (who has also started coughing) and I know my milk will be making antibodies to help fight off this infection. Should I see if DS would take some of my milk out of a cup? I haven't breastfed him for a year but he LOVES cows milk so might be more willing to try.

WIBU for trying? I don't want him ill for Christmas - he's so excited!

@EspressoPatronum I'm not sure that age range is strictly true. I've met a couple of people who have let their children wean naturally and only one of them weaned after age 3.

I said natural, not average. And yes, it is true.

Hang on, between 2 and a half and 7, not 4 and 7. But the point still stands.

Thanks everyone. He actually ended up taking the medicine as I have some to DD so OF COURSE he had to have some.

I let him taste some of my milk and he said he liked it but wouldn't have more than a sip lol

For hose worrying about the tea, it's half water and half milk with a second hand squeeze of my tea bag.

I wouldn't put it in a cup of tea. I might be wrong but the heat may kill some of the goodness x
