So DH and I are both off today and for god awful reason we're both fully awake. He got up and said he was making a brew so I asked if he could make a tea..

Just recently this week found out I'm pregnant and at 11 dpo have got a 2-3 weeks on clear blue digi, smells are knocking me sick. After a ridiculously long time ttc with no luck! Grin

He made me a brew and it's flavoured coffee! I couldn't take the smell and was sick. :( I feel really sad! But I asked for a tea as I can cope with that not pumpkin spice coffee!

Anyway! Did anyone else have any food/ smell aversions and was I being unreasonable to cry that he made a coffee hahaha!

I would just be annoyed he ignored you in general. Why bother making you something you didn't want!

Smoothyloopy · 22/12/2017 07:39

Toast & I'm still not great with the smell 8 years on.

BooRadley35 · 22/12/2017 07:41

I still can't eat ham ever since I was pregnant with ds2. He's almost 4!

ClareB83 · 22/12/2017 07:54

In early pregnancy I couldn't stand jalapeños or coffee. 11dpo is early tho, maybe you'll be joining the twin club 😃

misshannah · 22/12/2017 07:55

I am about the same as you - 2/3 weeks pregnant. So Congratulations!

I've not noticed smell yet, but I did walk past a cheese stall the other day that made me want to hurl. Apart from that I've been craving eggs, chicken wings, kale crisps, salmon and halloumi.

Other than my only other pregnancy symptoms so far are raging hormones and that i'm feeling very swollen, sore and like nothing fits.

At least your partner was nice enough to make you something! I asked mine to let the dogs out for a wee first thing whilst i tried to find something suitable to wear for work this morning and moving house this afternoon and that fitted... Nope. I then asked if he would mind making me a travel cup of tea because traffic was looking bad... I did get one, but not willingly made. Although we're both very happy to be expecting i don't think he realises the hormonal side of things. So I've left home in a rage and spent the first 20 minutes at work crying because I feel like a cow (mainly for shouting at one of the dogs who was glued to me and i'm sure is secretly trying to trip me over so i have to stay home and hand feed him all day and give him belly rubs.)

christmastits · 22/12/2017 08:01

Haha he was very affronted I cried but it smelt rank!

Our dog is the same!! He won't leave me alone! Usually he's all about DH which is mean because he was my dog for 3 years before I met him!! But currently he follows me into the loo and stares at me, he lies all over me on the sofa and just generally won't leave me alone which is lovely but he is a bit of a lump!

Congratulations!

DH prob made you that by accident in his tired state but I do understand the unreasonable crying, being pregnant myself I know how easy it is to get at silly things and then cry again or more because you know you're being silly.

Nomad86 · 22/12/2017 08:32

I can taste the slightest hint of coffee in tea and I can't bear it. I had an aversion to sweet potatoes while pregnant, only just able to eat them again four years later.

TheSnowballFairy · 22/12/2017 08:55

DH made fish for dinner one evening, I couldn't eat it because the smell was revolting. I joked about being pregnant...and I was (many years ago)!

Mrsfs · 22/12/2017 08:55

I had a smell aversion to a colleagues perfume, I was able to tell she was coming in to our office before she arrived because I could smell her. Everyone for a couple of months, she would come in and I would run out to throw up. I am just glad she didn't take offense.

Every time not everyoneBlush

christmastits · 22/12/2017 09:00

😂 he's into home brew and his last batch made me retch every time I went near the kitchen. Oh my god it was rank!

I vomited every time I fed the cat. Still can't bear the smell of cat food.
But then, it does smell rank.

Luckingfovely · 22/12/2017 09:32

Oh god I sympathise! Coffee when I was pg made me heave violently. Also perfume. It's taken me ten years to fall back in love with perfume again! It's very normal, even if not much fun x

CheekyFuckersAreEntertaining · 22/12/2017 09:52

I can't handle strong aftershave and perfume smells, particularly certain ones. I get an instant headache and painful sinuses, even to the point that my nose bleeds! I'm not pregnant, it's been the same for years.

DH is a bit silly, lives on nostalgia (think, buying the kids Thundercats memorabilia or a keyboard because HE loved them as a kid. The kids however couldn't give a shit.)
So he once had an aftershave called Kenzo Jungle as a teen and IT IS RANK! Thankfully it was discontinued but the bastards brought it back in the last couple of years so today for some unknown reason, DH dives in to his bottle, swims around a bit and tips the rest on his head just to make sure he's really plastered it on. He has plenty of other aftershaves that don't affect me one bit but today he felt like Kenzo and I'm in agony. I've had to have all the doors and windows open. Why can't he plaster that shit on when he's off out working for the day or something? He's off today and we're travelling for 3 hours. So I'll have to be in a car for three hours with my head out the window.

Fab.

Coffee and perfume

My mum still can't drink tea 40+ years after becoming averse during pregnancy

thecolonelbumminganugget · 22/12/2017 10:02

Congratulations!

I'm currently 15 weeks and was having morning sickness from around 8 -12 weeks that started around lunchtime and got worse as the afternoon wore on. I just didn't fancy eating anything. One evening I thought I could stomach some spaghetti Bolognese and DH said he'd make it, in a fit of enthusiasm at me wanting something to eat he thought he would make it extra tasty by adding some fish sauce and a load of chutney. I could have cried as I picked the spaghetti out and subtly tried to wipe all the sauce off. Luckily that phase has passed and we both see are funny side now!
