Help! Dd and the exploding green hair dye bathroom massacre situation

Giftdilema · 21/12/2017 22:03

Teen Dd has bought herself a green three wash hair dye spray from the pound shop and decided that nearly 10pm at night would be the ideal time to apply it.

It's a spray and being a teen she has been rather liberal with it. So liberal in fact that it is on EVERY bloody single wall, door, shower curtain, toilet, window blind and surface in the bathroom. Some of it will not wipe off.

Seriously my bathroom looks like someone has committed a brutal murder against some kind of green vegetable.

So aibu to ask if anyone knows any tips to get it off the walls and door at least before I cry myself into a green spotted bathroom explosion heap?

Also if anyone knows how to get it out of a fabric blind that would be good too.

Really strong laundry detergent like Persil, works wonders!

Whisky2014 · 21/12/2017 22:07

Alcohol wipes maybe?

Whisky2014 · 21/12/2017 22:08

And i would be getting her to do it

Trytowin · 21/12/2017 22:08

Baby wipes? Not the waterwiped kind the get everything including the sink off ones! If there's a Wilkinson their peach and Apple (I think) anti bacwipes got emulsion off! And only 50 p ish

Mound and mildew spray by Astonish (Poundland). We had a similar incident this afternoon with bright purple semi permanent hair dye.

It got it all off within minutes.

Tink2007 · 21/12/2017 22:09

Mould not mound 😩

SausageChipsAndCurrySauce · 21/12/2017 22:10

Cif should shift it.

Giftdilema · 21/12/2017 22:14

Thank you everyone! Out of those I only have cif and persil tablets which I could burst!

Will try those and if it doesn't work will have to hope for the best and try other suggestions tomorrow

To add insult to injury her hair hasn't changed at all (too dark for the colour she has picked Hmm)

Magic sponge

RNBrie · 21/12/2017 22:17

Amazon Prime Magic Sponge. Easy peasy. They will get sharpie off anything, they'll be good for hair spray!

buckeejit · 21/12/2017 22:18

Op, I'm sorry you've had to go through this & shame on MG for naming you, that's incredibly poor & I, pretty sure illegal as pp have said.

Best wishes for the future

Ssssurvey · 21/12/2017 22:19

JML Magic Eraser or similar works really well for this.

Rebeccaslicker · 21/12/2017 22:20

Oh no! Can't add anything practical but if it makes you feel better, I decided to dye mine aubergine when I was about 14 - used my parents' ensuite for some unknown reason - thought I'd got away with it.

Went back in a couple of hours later to find a trail of dark purple drops leading all across the bedroom carpet and the white bathroom floor - to a pool where an aubergine met an extremely messy end by the sink.

So it's not just your DD!

GrooovyLass · 21/12/2017 22:21

Cif bathroom spray. Me and DD spill lots of rainbows worth of hair dye per week between us!

GertrudeCB · 21/12/2017 22:23

Flash with bleach.

If none of the above work then in extreme need try petrol! Bizarre but my grandad (who worked in the printing trade) advised this when someone drew on friends car with permanent marker pen. It worked really quickly!

Obviously then need to wash surface after yo get rid of the petrol smell!!!

tobitcoinornottobitcoin · 21/12/2017 22:35

Oh OP! Shock

ToadOfSadness · 21/12/2017 22:35

WD40 but keep it off your hands.

Melamine · 21/12/2017 22:38

Mould & Mildew as mentioned is brilliant on hair dye splashes. Very bad for towels tho 😂

Namechangetempissue · 21/12/2017 22:39

Yes to the magic sponges-they are seriously good, I was genuinely surprised. She can clean it off!

Giftdilema · 22/12/2017 08:22

Cif has worked. Thank you dear people!!

Glad to hear it! Reminds me of when I highlighted my friends hair. Being an only child, she had been given the front reception room as 'her' room. Went upstairs to put some makeup on etc and wait to rinse off the bleach. Did so, worked really well! Came down and there was a giant expanded foam 'mushroom' on her floor...the bottle of hair bleach had carried on reacting, expanded and flowed out of the little spout at the top and all over the floor like a volcano. And bloody bleached a twenty cm circle on her carpet. Which had been fitted the week before. Peachy carpet with a great straw coloured and brown circle in the middle. Her parents were not pleased!
