How many people really want a dress that is otherwise perfectly fine (to my eye) looking but has a crazy asymmetric hem? Their website is stuffed with them. And not just dresses and skirts - now they’ve started on jumpers too. This one for instance. What the heck is a step hem and why would anybody want one?

That looks like I knitted it.

That's not a good thing, by the way.

DancingHipposOnAcid · 21/12/2017 14:38

The trousers too - just about all are cropped or ankle skimmers. Make me look like a demented elf. What's wrong with proper length trousers especially in winter Confused

IrkThePurist · 21/12/2017 14:40

What the actual fuck? Shock

WindyWednesday · 21/12/2017 14:52

There’s a bit missing. Is it a second?

Jaimx86 · 21/12/2017 14:58

I really like that jumper!

Kochicoo · 21/12/2017 16:04

That's the fashion at the moment though isn't it? I think the "step hem" started as a jeans thing. All the shops are stocking these trends. Just wait - apparently the handkerchief hem is coming back for Spring 18!

ToadOfSadness · 21/12/2017 16:15

A while ago they were selling jumpers that had a shorter front than back, a bit like that but both sides.

SantaClauseMightWork · 21/12/2017 16:26

One of my colleagues bought a really nice work dress from them. One wash (it said machine wash) and the fabric and linning went out of sync Confused Ain't going down there any time soon.

Witchend · 21/12/2017 16:32

It's clearly a sale item.
It has 5% off Grin

ShowMePotatoSalad · 21/12/2017 16:34

Sod the hemline - £55?!?!

onemouseplace · 21/12/2017 16:35

God, it looks like something you'd wear to have easy access to your holster or mobile phone belt.

ForagingForFaerieGold · 21/12/2017 17:01

Literally lol'd when I saw that. Wtaf? Looks like it's off a run of seconds

chaucerstails · 21/12/2017 17:16

It's an interesting new way to shift defective garments, I guess.

treeofhearts · 21/12/2017 17:21

wtf? did they run out of wool?

GallicosCats · 21/12/2017 17:37

I see a lot of asymmetric hems. They're crap and don't work on anyone under 5 foot 7. And how tall do you have to be for full length Phase Eight gowns????

badluckbathroom · 21/12/2017 18:27

Someone needs to find the person that runs M&S clothes and follow them round shouting BASICS until they get the message.
