To think the point of having children is so you can have them make you cups of tea?

My 12 year old didn’t get that memo apparently Hmm who do I complain to about this faulty product?

Mine makes a corking cup of tea, I'm immensely proud.
She also does the bins, it's a blessing I can tell you.

Only1scoop · 19/12/2017 09:42

Dd now gives me a shoulder and neck massage....

She is 7

I have to pay her 50pHmm

Camomila · 19/12/2017 09:42

Excellent minion training ProseccoMaman I've got mine (20m) putting things in the bin for me and 'meal planning'...I take him to the kitchen and let him look in the fridge where he will either grab an egg or cheese (for cheesy pasta) and that's lunch!

trqintracks · 19/12/2017 09:49

Mine just collected my slippers and put them on me feet for me. Just wish they were tall enough to make me a coffee and run the bath.

Beerwench · 19/12/2017 10:23

Thehogfather - yes the flattery function, it has been so long since this has been used I had forgotten it's existence. Yes, strongly suspect there is a wildly unsuitable request afoot that will cost money. I may trade off for tea and other duties. Could work to my advantage after all Grin

Nomad86 · 19/12/2017 10:25

My 1yo DS makes the best cups of air with his teaset, start 'em young!

SistersOfPercy · 19/12/2017 10:45

I feel I have failed. The moment of realisation came when the then 17 year old DS called me when I was out to ask me how to make instant mash. Blush

ProseccoMamam · 20/12/2017 00:19

@Camomila unfortunately my toddler also likes putting his toys in the bin as he thinks it's what I want. So the training isn't fully completed but he is very good at picking out snacks for us both! And he understands that mummy has mini cheddars while he can only have rice cakes Grin

Beakyplinders · 20/12/2017 04:27

I tried training my cats to make tea but they couldn't get the hang of it, I blame their lack of thumbs meaning they can't quite grip the kettle, so I've decided to reproduce instead and will train baby up as soon as he/he is able to roll on to stomach.

Donnerkebabbler · 20/12/2017 07:01

I too was lulled with the false promise of having my tea brought to me in bed

britnay · 20/12/2017 08:07

pfft, at that age I was making them irish coffees! ;)

Frogletmamma · 20/12/2017 09:02

My child is under-tall. She cannot reach the kettle. I am very disappointed

JsOtherHalf · 20/12/2017 19:04

Thinking about it, I too was making Irish coffees by the end of primary school _ including whisking the cream in the Kenwood mixer - completely unsupervised.

Mine are doing the chimneys Wink

Arrowfanatic · 20/12/2017 19:59

Wait, my eldest is almost 9. Why hasn't she had her tea making app installed?? Is she faulty, do I need to factory reset?

VileyRose · 20/12/2017 20:00

My 11 and 13yr old and both make a good tea :-)

Fekko · 20/12/2017 22:01

Bless him, DH has bought me a huge jar of pickled onions and a bottle of port for Christmas! Beat that!

OliviaStabler · 20/12/2017 22:14

I used to hate having to do this. Don't mind now though but I am a lot older Grin

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 20/12/2017 22:20

My younger one is good at bringing me fruit and slippers on request. The older one is fortunately very skilled in removing dead mice with a dustpan and brush - birds and frogs I can manage but mice are beyond me.

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 20/12/2017 22:33

Mine are good at starting it but often get distracted and by the time I remind them its gone cold. Need to crack the whip to keep them focussed!

alibongo5 · 20/12/2017 23:45

No it's so that ultimately they can come and pick you up from the pub.

Oh yes, this is the reason to have kids! I love it when my kids pick me up from a drunken night out!

gingergenius · 21/12/2017 00:13

When can they make me a bacon and egg sarnie and nurse my hangover???

Lilly11a · 21/12/2017 18:26

You are wrong . The point of having children is so you can still have water fights or go to theme parks and pretend it is for their amusement .

Fekko · 21/12/2017 18:37

Or visit the local fire station...

JustGettingStarted · 21/12/2017 18:39

My youngest learned to bake sponge cake when he was about 8. When he's being annoying and needs busy work I tell him to bake me a cake.
