Universal credit HELP

Posting for traffic (sorry)
Hello my friend is supposed to have received his universal credit payment today. He has been receiving it for a couple of months now so not a new claim. However, he hasn't received it today when he should have - even his account online says it will be in today and still nothing.
What can he do? He is desperate for money and is going to end up in arrears with bills etc as money isn't there. Anyone any suggestions?

Whats with all the 'witty'replies? OP has been given advice. Just move on if you don't like the thread.

PersianCatLady · 18/12/2017 22:02

Would he qualify for a Crisis Loan/Budgeting Advance?
Crisis Loans don't exist any more.

It is part of the reason why so many people use foodbanks now.

Changing the subject -
How is are your cockroach ninja skills today??

Thanks for the giggles on the staple thread the other day, you made me laugh until I cried!!

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 18/12/2017 22:03

Also it doesn't matter if it's a 5 week month... you get a nominated day 5 weeks after the claim was start, for example the 7th therefore you get the payment on or around that date.

It's just like if you get paid from work on a specific day such as the 27th... you wouldn't get paid a week early would you if it was a five week month?

PurplePillowCase · 18/12/2017 22:19

sorry for not being clear, if he gets paid weekly by his work, his u.k. will be much reduced or none due to the 'extra' money earned in a 5 week month.

Snowman41 · 18/12/2017 22:21

It doesn't matter anyway. OP already clarified he isn't working

MiltonTheCockroach · 18/12/2017 22:27

@PersianCatLady I'm honing my Superhero skills at present.

The errant staple thread was generally a good laugh and the OP was a good'un despite all the pisstaking Smile

I'm out of touch with benefits these days, didn't realise there was no longer a Crisis Loan

Where do you get these amazing little pictures from??

Primamadonna · 18/12/2017 22:31

I think anyone is entitled to say what they want on a public forum in response to an aibu, witty or not and it's up to mumsnet to slap you down.
It's just a bit odd asking if yer mate hasn't got his dole so what's happened huns.
Btw I'd like some new uggs and some gin.

PersianCatLady · 18/12/2017 22:33

The UC website says this -
"Call the helpline straight away if your payment doesn’t arrive on time"

My next question is, has he actually done this??

Primamadonna · 18/12/2017 22:34

OP seems to have gone, hopefully to make a nice supper for her fella.

MiltonTheCockroach · 18/12/2017 22:35

@PersianCatLady Picmonkey overlays. Basic but fun

PersianCatLady · 18/12/2017 22:35

no isn't working so there is literally no reason why it shouldn't be in!
I know the OP's friend isn't working but here is some information about the 5 week month thing that may be useful to other people that come to this thread -

Excellent, I might have a go at it myself.

duffaho · 18/12/2017 22:43

To give you a sensible answer OP there are many reasons that the payment is not in the account by now . It is best if your friend calls tmorrow at 8:00am and chases the payment. There have been some system glitches this past couple of weeks which could have affected his claim.
But as a PP said the payment can go in any time up to 8:00pm on the day payment is due. There is no requirement for a payment to be in the account first thing in the morning.

I would seriously speak to your friend about budgetting though. To be penniless with over a week to go before payment is due is seriously worrying.

malificent7 · 19/12/2017 06:13

The 'witty' replies seem to be taking the piss out of a desperate man....uggggrrrr!
Not in the spirit of Christmas.

Universal Credit is genuinely baffling and scary.

I work and i am sometimes penniless waiting for universal credit...i budget hard but pennies only stretch so far.
