I need your brains. I work at a hospital and have to come up with an idea for a really thrifty Christmas present for 55 really special people by the end of this week! Money is tight so looking at a budget of 30-50 p each!! :-( In previous years we have bought a lindt chocolate, tea lights in an organza bag, a wooden Christmas tree decoration and last year I made them all fudge! We've really run out of ideas. Please could anyone let me know of any bargains they have seen or ideas they have had. Thanks all for your help. Xx

The big tubs of roses etc are £4. You could split them down into mini bags. They are really easy to do with tin foil wrapping paper.

Fluffyblanket17 · 18/12/2017 19:31

Cupcakes?

House4 · 18/12/2017 19:36

Buy a lot of melting chocolate and cheap cornflakes. Melt chocolate and mix with cornflakes. Arrange into small star shapes/ use a mound with lots of star shapes to set the cornflake cakes. Wrap prettily in toil foil. Could just use chocolate. Give a star to each person as I am sure each one of you is a real star that many people owe their lives too. Thank you for doing such a great job x

Buy cheap baubles and personalise them.
Individual gingerbread tree decorations with little gingham ribbons.

Fitzsimmons · 18/12/2017 19:45

Friend of mine made these that I thought were quite cute.

Wilkos do three gingerbread man cookie cutters for £1.50 - split the packs and they are 50p each. (But different sizes, so if you have some complainers, maybe not ideal.)

Big rool of ribbon for £1 from Tiger, tie a bow on each one, done!

sourpatchkid · 18/12/2017 20:03

Candle making kit and make scented candles?

Or essentially any crafty kit and make something?

caroline161 · 18/12/2017 20:03

Is it for patients? If yes, it is worth asking a local supermarket for a donation. One of the larger ones sent Easter eggs to the nicu during our stay. It was a lovely thought from them x

caroline161 · 18/12/2017 20:12

No it's for the staff:-)

GetOutOfMYGarden · 18/12/2017 20:12

If it's for patients or front line staff then ask the supermarket closest to you if there's any donation they can make. It's usually 'community champion' or something that you want to ask for.

Alternatively, potentially bath bombs/salts if no moulds? The raw ingredients are cheap enough, tie them in a bag with a bit of ribbon and maybe add a chocolate.

MikeUniformMike · 18/12/2017 20:15

2nd asking supermarket for a donation. Or maybe a confectionery, baking or toiletries company.
You could try Home Bargains or somewhere for candy canes or something and put them with something else.

thelastredwinegum · 18/12/2017 20:22

Cinder toffee or chocolate truffles?

TalkinBoutWhat · 18/12/2017 20:25

Sod buying each of them a ginger bread cookie cutter, buy one set and make them some, MUCH cheaper!

Or a miniature gingerbread house (small enough that a jelly baby looks like the right size by the door!)

MikeUniformMike · 18/12/2017 20:28

Ah It's for staff.
