AIBU to cringe at the Pampers advert

The thank you midwife one. Yes thank you midwives, birthing women are no problem but the adapted 12 days of Christmas song is so cringey!

I don't like it. However I was massively let down by our midwifes and resulted in me having our baby at home after they told me to go home as nothing was going to happen for ages.

It's not anymore cringe worthy than most Christmas adverts! I like it and it's nice that midwives are getting publicly thanked for their hard work. All my midwifes were utterly fantastic.

Mince pies are Christmas things, as are Christmas trees, decorations, port, prosecco flavour fucking crisps and turkey. Nappies are not. It's bullshit.

The thing that annoys me most is the fake scene of the women giving birth... because everyone knows babies come out clean and dry Hmm

Obviously am in minority as I actually like it! Of course is a bit slushy, but pampers and midwifery are of course linkable!

In the twelfth hour of labour, my midwife gave to me... paracetamol and left me on my own again as they were overcrowded and had no available rooms. Hmm

I have a pained relationship with midwives after my birth experience so the ad makes me angry and upset tbh. I just turn it off if I can.

I had 3 pretty straightforwards labours, but I really dislike it. Christmas is a very difficult time for many people, and I think it is a very insensitive advert. There is no warning that it is going to happen and will catch a lot of people, women especially, unawares.

Posted too soon. But since i had a traumatic prem birth i can't watch anything with women in labour as it gives me flashbacks. So i think ill have to avoid that one.

Saw it for the first time today while eating my dinner - turned to dh and said that's the last thing I want to be reminded of when I'm eating my dinner. But at least two of the midwives that dealt with me were absolute witches so I'm inclined not to be sympathetic.

Saw it tonight. Gave birth just under a year ago and did not want to be reminded of it while minding my own business watching TV with DH!

It's totally cringe because it's bloody pampers.

Another one with less than stellar midwife care who gets annoyed with this. I'm guessing "in the 26th hour of labour... my midwife let me nearly die of sepsis" or "one day after ICU my midwife... told me off for ringing the buzzer" aren't quite the festive lyrics they were looking for though!

Also why are all the dads in the waiting room? Is it set in 1960?

Thought exactly the same. Can’t really explain why but just found it very irritating, maybe due to the way Pampers are positioning themselves as the midwives’ choice. And agree with PP about all the men in the waiting room... wtf?!

I can't even watch the preemie one. It makes me feel physically unwell, too many memories I guess. To be honest I just avoid anything on TV to do with birth these days!

In the minority too but I really liked it. My son is nearly one, likely to be our last and I (very luckily) had a great labour experience. My DC1's Labour was not so good. But it reminded me of those happy days when he came into the world and the four of us were together.

Obviously it's a very emotive subject and I fully understand why it would be difficult/unpleasant for some but I teared up watching it and I'm not normally one for that at all.

I have said before that it's a jolly good thing I was so addled with pain that I can't remember what my midwives looked like, or if I ever saw one particular one again I might not be able to restrain myself from punching her in the face. (I'm not a violent person, I've never punched anyone, but the way she treated me when I was at my most vulnerable still fills me with rage).

The advert just makes me sad that there was no lovely midwife holding my hand and helping me through it all.

I am absolutely grateful to the midwives but I had such a traumatic labour, followed by suicidal PTSD, that watching that advert is for me akin to watching a car crash or someone being tortured. So I think it is insensitive. I can't watch one born every minute or call the midwife.
