Blood in stool of baby

My wee one is six months old. She has been constipated and straining the past few days but still managing to go. I changed her nappy 10 mins ago and there was some bright red blood on her stool. Should I be contacting anyone? GP? Out of hours? Health visitor? I've tried warm water, diluted fresh orange and prunes for the constipation. Thank you!

My son had one nappy like this at around 7 months. Took him to the docs and Dr thought it was just the adjustment to solids as he was otherwise well, said to keep checking and if there was more then take him back (but there wasn't). If it's bright red blood then it's a good sign that it's just around the anal passage, not an issue higher up. But do contact your GP if you're worried!

DS had this as a baby, it was a fungal infection. Short course of cream and it was sorted.

If no other symptoms, it's probably okay and nothing to worry about but I'd definitely check with the GP - or 111 if out of hours.

DS had this when he was a baby and it was a small tear in his bottom from straining

Agree with @Impatientwino - she's probably got a small tear from trying to go when constipated.
My DD had the odd occasion of red streaks in her nappy as a baby. I took photos (nice) and showed the GP. He assumed constipation, although I don't believe she ever was constipated. But he gave us some lidocaine ointment to put on her anus, so it sort of numbed it when she went - as his concern was she might start to associate pooing with pain, and then start witholding. It only happened on three quite separate occasions (months apart) and hasn't been an issue since.
So I think unless your DD continues to get this symptom, or seems to still be constipated, she will be fine. But do go see the GP if not.

It’s dark red blood I was told to worry about.

Thanks everyone. I think it's just from straining. I would call NHS24 but I think they would just send us to out of hours. I've never contacted them and not ended up down there. She's had plenty of water and seems fine in herself. If it happens again I'll make a GP appointment.
