To put a sign on the front door saying I won't take parcels

Just answered the door for the fourth time today. I haven't ordered anything, I seem to be taking parcels in for the rest of the street. I said no to the last two, but I'm not going to answer for the rest of the day now!
I'm unwell and trying to sleep it off, except the door keeps going every 10 mins! I live in an old house with a big iron knocker on the front door so the noise goes straight through the house. I'm half tempted to take it off and put a doorbell on that I can turn off!
AIBU to put a sign on the door saying 'no parcels'?!

OP YANBU but, why not order when you know you'll be in? is a bit of a joke.

Last Christmas I made the mistake of ordering most things online. I knew I'd be home all day on a particular day and all the stuff I'd ordered was supposed to come then. Instead it all came in dribs and drabs from 3 days before then until 4 after, so spread over an entire week.

They've put in a lot of delivery places locally this year but a lot of them are even more inconvenient than trying to catch the courier. I have bought mainly from actual shops this year because I just can't be bothered with it.

Of course it is! I order something online, it could come any number of days over 2 weeks. Am I supposed to sit by the door until it does?

I take in parcels for neighbours, they do it for me. It's not what anyone could call a big deal, is it?

I dont mind taking stuff in for my neighbour on one side because they do it for me too, but not the other, and not for the whole street because they dont come and fucking collect it and its a pisstake if its all the time.

I currently have a rather large parcel sitting in my hallway that I took in for next door the other day. I know they are there and I know they got a card to say I have it but they haven't bothered to come and get it.

I don't bother trying to take it to them as they rarely answer the door so if they don't come and get it soon, I will just dump it over the fence!

Generally though, if you are well, I think it is mean to not take in other people's parcels

I work from home. At this time of year if I took in parcels I would never get anything done.

I do plenty of other little jobs for my elderly neighbours, so would hope if I really needed something they would return the favour. Especially given they wouldn't know I hadn't taken in a parcel!

It’s fair enough to order one or two things when you know you might not be in. It’s nice to look out for neighbours.

But it’s such a pain in the arse when you get a neighbour who does their entire Xmas shop online, having everything delivered to the house when they’re at work, knowing that someone will have to take it in. There are no shortage of alternative delivery options. Some workplaces are ok with personal parcels, and if not, that’s what Collect Plus, Amazon Lockers and the myriad of other collection options are for.

I take parcels for neighbours either side and one opposite because she takes the trouble to come and ask me rather than assume. The problem is that she will politely ask me when I am trying to sleep.

I took some boxes in for one neighbour the day after she went on holiday, think she was expecting them to arrive earlier and they were in the way so I took them round and left them in her hall as I have a key.

I don't mind this, but what annoyed me was when the previous 2 lots of occupiers had moved and I was getting all their mail including parcels, one lot had only moved down the road. It stopped after I accidentally turned a box upside down and heard a sound that didn't sound good, before seeing the label that said This Way Up. I left it in their porch.

Sometimes I just turn off the doorbell. I currently have a note on my door to leave packages in the safe place as I am not well. Found a bottle of wine in it the other day, in a gift bag.
