To ask how long - baby in car seat?

Sorry (posting for traffic)!

Driving around 200 miles today with DD (4 months). Have been given mixed messages - some saying no longer than 30 mins in car seat, some saying 2 hours!
Obviously I'm happy to stop as often as I need to to take her out, feed etc, but does anyone know how long it should actually be?! Tia!

So yet again, mums are panicking over something they weren't yesterday.
I do find it utterly bizarre that people are so out of touch with their own instincts that they slavishly follow any guideline - no matter how unrealistic - without a thought.
Why were these guidelines issued? Has there been a lot of babies who have died as a result of sitting in a car seat for 35 minutes?
Is the danger any higher than co-sleeping, which for some reason I can never fathom, seems to be advocated with guidelines disregarded on MN.
The thought of having to stop every 30 mins is just ridiculous, and, I dare guess, unnecessary.
Yes, keeping baby in a seat for hours on end is not a good idea, but honestly, what has happened to common sense?

but honestly, what has happened to common sense

It got scientifically tested and found to be lacking. Same way we've cut cot death numbers.

What's the problem? It's for a short period of time and can be worked around if parents choose to take notice.

Isn't it great to be living in an age we can find out what's been the cause of problems in the past?

Safe cosleeping does not increase the risk of cot death.
