Has anyone been and do you think it is suitable? Thanks.

Haven't yet but I’m taking my 8yo this week.

JoanCallamezzo · 16/12/2017 13:49

Have they seen The Force Awakens? I think it's less scary than that. My fairly sensitive 9yo saw it last night and wasn't at all frightened – he found the trailers before it more scary but maybe that's just because we were at an evening showing. I'd say it's definitely appropriate for an 8yo.

MrsHathaway · 16/12/2017 13:50

A friend took her 7yo and recommends. DC is a major Star Wars geek, though. I think that context is important for contextualising the 12A bits.

We're planning to take our 9yo SW geek but not the more sensitive 6yo. 6 can watch it when it's on tv and therefore less immersive.

ShimmeringBollox · 16/12/2017 13:51

Of course, I am taking my 7 year olds next week.
We took them to see the force awakens and rouge one when they were 5 and 6.

I find the imbd parental rating guidance thingy really informative.

StuffAndNonsenseYes · 16/12/2017 13:52

I've not been but.

Has she seen and enjoyed other Star Wars films? (Or similar)
Does she want to go?
Do you feel able to discuss anything she might find troubling afterwards?

BBFC only cites "moderate violence", so if you think she's okay with that, go for it!

Thanks. I think we will go.

Ds has seen other Star Wars films.

Dp went on Thursday night, he's also going tonight to the 3D one ( I know I know! )

I've just asked him and he said it's fine, he would take our dd no problem but she isn't interested. Dd is 7 in February.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 16/12/2017 14:01

Ooh this thread is v interesting!

Me n DP has this exact discussion last night, and I was adamant that we shouldn't take DS (5) because my normal rule is to watch it first to check it's suitability.

HOWEVER....he has seen and loves all the previous films, and has become a real fan.
He would definitely get the context, and would really enjoy seeing it at the cinema.

Might have to go and tell DP I've changed my mind!

ButchyRestingFace · 16/12/2017 14:03

If he’s seen Rogue One then The Last Jedi will seem like Peppa Pig.

PrincessoftheSea · 16/12/2017 14:05

I think its too young. I have only seen one, cannot remember which one as not at all a fan, but I remember one of the characters got burnt and that to me was a violent scene.

but I remember one of the characters got burnt and that to me was a violent scene.

Episode III: Revenge of Sith.

AKA Bollocksville.

flowery · 16/12/2017 14:09

8yo DS2 is going tomorrow. He also went to see the Force Awakens and Rogue One in the cinema. A knowledge of the franchise and context definitely helps.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 16/12/2017 14:36

I'll be taking both DC to see it, 8 & 6.

iwanttobekate · 16/12/2017 14:36

DH took our 6 year old yesterday. He did see it himself first the day before to check suitability. And DS has a very thorough understanding of the story Grin each child is different, only you can assess if it's suitable for yours.

sagamartha · 16/12/2017 14:36

No real violence
No torture
Some cute characters.
Lots of battles
Heroics

Not like Han being tortured and Luke losing his hand.....
