Hi,
My mum lives overseas,
a 10hr time difference at the moment (varying due to clocks going backwards and forwards) we do try to talk a bit daily.
We both have iMessage and FaceTime. If I text and don't respond I get something like this (x being my name)

Hey x you about?
Hey! You here?
X!
X!
Oi!

I see or speak to my mum most days and this would drive me potty! I've just had to tell my mum straight after she repeatedly rang on many occasions during the hour that she knows (and she does know, because she's been here/babysat many times) that I'm bathing and putting toddler DD to bed. We always have half hour quiet time with stories etc before bed and I don't have my phone near me, it's distracting and I like to spend the time doing nice things with DD (as well as brushing teeth, putting pjs on etc).

I sent her a quick text the other day because I could see my phone flashing away for a about ten minutes straight with calls - just said 'Mum, is there anything wrong that you need me for immediately? Because as you know it's DD's bedtime, I've got my hands full'

Got back 'no, just that Aunt Joan is cooking dinner at 12 on Sunday'.🙄

Why she couldn't have just text me that I don't know. I'd seen her about three hours before so it's not like we hadn't caught up!

I just said the next day could she avoid calling then unless it's urgent because it's a bad time.

But then my mum also thinks it's ok to always come and completely distract from dinner time knowing that I have a fussy child who is a nightmare to feed so there no hope for me! Honestly she has the skin on a rhino.

My MIL does pretty much that to my husband when she's trying to Skype. Sometimes this is when he's in the middle of a nappy change or getting DS off for a nap so he is ignoring her or sometimes they're out or just busy!
