To ask if you get evening "downtime" with your OH?

If you have young DC do you manage to have any downtime with your OH on a regular day?

We have a toddler who's been a good sleeper so in that respect for the past year and a bit he goes to bed at 7pm on the dot and me and DP have had the evenings to ourselves wether it's just to relax and watch a movie or sort bits around the house. It really helped me to know that evening time was there.

We now also have a newborn (only 2 weeks) and I'm getting little bouts of anxiety and keep thinking we will never have that time again - or at least not any time soon.

AIBU to ask if you get that time and if you do how did you manage to work it around the DCs?

My youngest is 6 months and last night was the first time since he was born that he went to sleep at a reasonable hour, it was lush I didn't know what to do with myself 😁. I'm hoping for a repeat tonight but we will see as he's teething and very unpredictable at the moment! 2 weeks is still so young you will get there op.

It gets easier you can get into habits that will eventually fall into a routine and you'll get you downtime back.
Unfortunately for us every other week we have my dss15 and he sits watching tv with us til 9.30 then takes himself off the bed and probably to play on phone in bed.
We're learnt to make the most of the hour once he's gone to bed as we can't stay up late as our twins do atleast one night feed still.

Sometimes, sometimes not. Last night toddler decided he was not going to sleep til 930. As I need to be in bed for 10 to get up at 6, I just stayed in bed once he was asleep (he cosleeps with us)

Nope! We have a 2.7 year old and a 14 month old. Our 2.7 year old is and has always been a terrible sleeper, we fight to get her to go to bed and she seems to need very little sleep. She goes to bed around 9-10pm, is up usually twice during the night and up in the morning around 6am. She doesn't nap during the day either unless we're in the car. When she gets up during the night she gets in to our bed too and won't go back to sleep unless she stays in our bed! We're really hoping she outgrows this soon.

Our 14 month old is much easier and happily goes to bed (usually!) around 8.30pm and sleeps until around 8am.

We've accepted evenings are not our own for the time being but nothing lasts forever, time passes quickly and before we know it they won't be little anymore.

We have 3 kids, 6, 3 and 8months and they're all in bed by 8pm so yes we get some downtime in the evening :)
When my third was younger (before 6months or so) I'd simply keep him with me and feed him whilst watching the TV etc. Not completely free time but still pretty good :)
