yes! I thought playmobil was bad (but i love it) but now DD has polly pocket - i need to study the carpet with a magnifying glass before hoovering in case polly's shoes get sucked up

Blandmum · 21/04/2007 13:35

poly pockets, playmobile, you name a type of plastic crap and we seem to have it all.

All 'the toy to end all toys' at one point. All broken and collecting dust now!

pmsl was about to ask if it was playmobil...ds loves it but blimey it comes with a ton of stuff..lol

ChippyMinton · 21/04/2007 13:38

DS2 has playmobil cargo ship - complete with a cargo of coal! The he got the dock crane, which came with another great sack of plastic coal!

Blandmum · 21/04/2007 13:50

mwahahahahahah

Just got a poly pocket shoe with my hoover....and a tiny little cannon ball from the playmobile.

Mwahahahahahahaha [manic gleeful grin emoticon needed] Mummy's revenge!

ChippyMinton · 21/04/2007 13:53

so you'll be emptying the hoover contents onto a large sheet of newspaper and retrieving said items then MB?

Purpleparrot · 21/04/2007 13:53

Lego... whoever invented that wants shot in my opinion! DS pleaded for the Hogwarts castle made of lego last year. Comes complete with working clock, opening gates etc etc and I gave in and bought it. £60.00!! It was slightly old for him so I spent one sunday sitting on the floor in the living room for 5 hours... I kid you not... building the thing. Utterly delighted with this castle, put it in his room. Two days later he has dismantled the thing and spread it from one side to the other... After I have shrieked like a banshee at him, he calmly says he just wanted to build space ships out of it... he could have just had a box of different sized lego bricks for £7.00 and built what he damn well liked! Grrr . That's what he got for his birthday the next year and he never used it! grr again!

noddyholder · 21/04/2007 13:55

It is one of the joys of kids growing up ds is 12 and the platic tat has diminished massively.Mind you other rubbish does replace it

nally · 21/04/2007 13:55

Polly Pocket should go to hell! Whoever thought that one up? Obviously someone without children. What an annoying little [insert appropriate rude word here] she is, with all her stupid little teeny tiny clothes, shoes, combs, etc etc. Ugh!!!!

Sorry for the outburst...it felt good though.

Blandmum · 21/04/2007 13:57

I think that purpleparrot (great name btw) and I share the same problem.

we care more about having all the bits in the right place etc than the bloody kids do!

If it doesn't worry the kids it shouldn't worry me....but it does.

....also, marble madness. the kids got one for xmas from my brother (no dc of his own). The box says "60 PIECES" as if thats a good thing. DH had a fight with the bloody thing, putting it together. The pieces didn't fit properly. Once built, the marbles that came with it were too light to move various bits of it around and then it collapsed in a heap on the floor. Needless to say it hhas been chucked to the back of the cupboard to go with my pile of stuff for the car boot sale in a few weeks.

noddyholder · 21/04/2007 14:01

I used to hate things where you had to do stuff like magic or science kits.Fine in theory but full of little bits that ds would take out break and then the whole thing was pointless!

ChippyMinton · 21/04/2007 14:01

strangely, our marble run got left behind at grandmas's one day and has never returned.

Blandmum · 21/04/2007 14:01

funny that , we go a marble run thing from ELC about 7 years ago and my kids have played with it loads.

Big wastes of time for us have been board games like 'tooth fary' and 'Mousetrap' worthless bit of crap that was!

OP posts:
Blandmum · 21/04/2007 14:02

nh, I love the science kids but my kids hate them because I take it all too seriously

OP posts:
noddyholder · 21/04/2007 14:04

So did I MB!I wanted to do it all properly but it doesn't work that way with kids and then I would be the one in a sulk.I am the same about homework 'projects' I get really anal about compiling everything as if it was for some corporate presentation and ds couldn't give a damn as long as its done1

mytwopenceworth · 21/04/2007 14:04

MB - amen sister.

Blandmum · 21/04/2007 14:06

noddy, you are my true sister , lost at birth!

I do stuff like this all the time.

Made a 'treasure hunt' type thing for them to do on the drive to the last holiday. Maps or the areas we were driving through. Cue cries of 'Its too hard mum' and me seething while driving down the motorway!

I'm such a bloody fool!

ChippyMinton · 21/04/2007 14:07

DS1 has been 'excavating' dinosaur bones from a block of plaster since September LOL

All time worst toy has to be magic sand

noddyholder · 21/04/2007 14:08

I got really excited when ds had to cover all his books by theme this year I spent hours trawling magazines for pictures etc and couldn't wait to do the RE one as I have a huge collection of pictures of religious icons!I need help!!!!!!!!

Gingerbear · 21/04/2007 14:09

Polly Bleedin Pocket.

The dog once ate a lime green Polly frock - his shit was luminous and DH thought he needed the vet.

Purpleparrot · 21/04/2007 14:10

Martianbishop - thanks. I couldn't think of a name when I joined but I have a sticker of a purple parrot on the corner of my monitor which DS kindly put on there so I used that! figured, if I saw it every day I couldn't forget my username!

My sister bought my DS a lego dragon castle for christmas so when he was in bed we sat on the floor in our parents living room - were visitng at the time - and tried to put it together in our rather drunken state! some hours later, with parents thinking this was amusing and after much shouting we agreed to leave it til the morning when we were 'normal' again. The following morning I got up and started the castle... my sister nowhere to be seen because 'she doesn't do mornings!!!' and I put it together, grumbling throughout that this was her bloody idea and I had wanted to wait til I got home so I wasn't having to transport a castle 150 miles in the car with all of DS's other presents including a bike! finally finished, some hours later (again!), sent her pictures on my phone in triumph, boxed the whole thing up and transported it safely home in triumph again... only to have DS shred it again... you'd think I would have learned a lesson after the Hogwarts castle!

Blandmum · 21/04/2007 14:11

Chippy, I had forgotten all about magic sand! Suppressed it under all the rage about the mess and the waste of money!

Noddy, PMSL at the book covering thing! We both need help and fast!

LOL at the luminous shit!
